Task Achievement / Task Response — Band 6.0

The response covers all parts of the task by identifying the top ten countries and comparing production and consumption data. You successfully highlighted the peak figures for China and the United States. However, the report lacks a clear, analytical overview of the trends. While you listed many figures, the comparison could be more sophisticated; for instance, noting that most countries produced more than they consumed, with Germany and Korea being notable exceptions, would have strengthened the analysis. The data presentation is accurate, but the grouping of information in the final paragraph feels slightly mechanical rather than synthesized.

Coherence and Cohesion — Band 6.0

The essay is organized into logical paragraphs, and there is a clear progression of ideas from the overview to specific details. You used cohesive devices such as 'On the other hand', 'In detail', and 'In contrast' to link your points. However, some transitions feel slightly forced or repetitive, particularly the use of 'Subsequently' to introduce the final group of countries. The referencing is generally clear, though the flow between sentences could be improved by using more varied cohesive structures to connect the production and consumption figures more fluidly.

Lexical Resource — Band 5.5

You have an adequate range of vocabulary for the task, using terms like 'production', 'consumption', 'variations', and 'respectively' correctly. There are some minor errors in word choice, such as 'at it least' (should be 'at its lowest') and 'utmost' (which is not the correct term for 'highest' in this context). While you successfully report numerical data, the vocabulary remains somewhat functional and lacks the more sophisticated, precise collocations that would elevate the response to a higher band. Spelling is generally accurate, though 'Th' at the beginning is a clear typo.

Grammatical Range and Accuracy — Band 5.5

The response uses a mix of simple and complex sentence structures. There are several grammatical slips, such as 'in year 2014' (missing 'the'), 'was at it least' (incorrect pronoun usage), and '1.057 Billion' (inconsistent decimal notation). Punctuation is generally functional, but there are inconsistent spaces before commas in several places (e.g., 'China ,'). While these errors do not impede communication, they occur frequently enough to prevent a higher score. To improve, focus on consistent article usage and refining your control over complex sentence structures.
