Task Achievement / Task Response — Band 6.0

The response covers all requirements of the task by identifying the main features and making relevant comparisons. You successfully highlighted the dominance of China and the United States compared to the other nations. However, there is a factual error in the introduction where you state the year as 2017 instead of 2014, which is a significant oversight in data interpretation. While you provide a good overview and specific data points, the grouping of countries in the middle section is slightly cluttered, making it harder to follow the comparison. To reach a higher band, ensure all data points are accurately transcribed and focus on grouping information more logically.

Coherence and Cohesion — Band 6.0

The response is logically organized with a clear introduction, overview, and body paragraphs. You use some cohesive devices such as 'On the other hand' and 'In between', though some transitions feel a bit mechanical or repetitive. Paragraphing is present, but the transition between the overview and the detailed body paragraphs could be smoother. Referencing is generally clear, but some sentences are quite long and dense, which slightly impacts the flow of information. Improving the variety of linking words and ensuring that each paragraph has a clear thematic focus would enhance the coherence of your writing.

Lexical Resource — Band 5.5

You demonstrate an adequate range of vocabulary for the task, using terms like 'generation', 'utilisation', and 'consumption' correctly. However, there are some inaccuracies in word choice and collocation, such as 'creation of electricity' (better as 'generation') and 'as many as double to the Germany' (which is grammatically awkward). There are also some minor spelling and capitalization issues, such as 'united states' and 'republic of Korea'. To improve, focus on using more precise academic collocations and ensure consistent capitalization for proper nouns.

Grammatical Range and Accuracy — Band 5.5

The response uses a mix of simple and complex sentence structures. While you attempt complex sentences, there are frequent errors in grammar and punctuation, such as missing articles ('the United States'), subject-verb agreement issues ('China and united states electricity Creation and use was'), and awkward phrasing ('used up to 582 billion kWh electricity'). Punctuation is also inconsistent, with some missing spaces after periods. While these errors do not prevent the reader from understanding the data, they occur frequently enough to limit the score. Focus on proofreading for basic grammatical accuracy and article usage.
