Task Achievement / Task Response — Band 5.0

The response fails to meet the minimum word count requirement of 150 words, which significantly impacts the task achievement score. While you have identified the main features, such as the dominance of China and the United States and the anomaly of Germany's consumption, the analysis is incomplete. The final sentence is cut off, leaving the report unfinished. To improve, ensure you provide a complete summary of all data points and extend your analysis of the comparisons between countries. The under-length nature of the response means that the task is only partially addressed, as the conclusion and final data points are missing.

Coherence and Cohesion — Band 5.5

The essay is organized into paragraphs, which helps the reader follow the structure. However, the progression of ideas is hindered by the incomplete ending. Cohesive devices are used, such as 'On the other hand' and 'Similarly', but some transitions feel mechanical. The referencing is occasionally unclear, such as in the sentence 'Similarly followed by United States', which lacks a clear subject. To improve, ensure that each paragraph has a clear topic sentence and that you use a wider variety of linking words to connect your comparisons more fluidly. The abrupt ending also disrupts the overall coherence of the piece.

Lexical Resource — Band 5.5

You have a sufficient range of vocabulary to describe the data, using terms like 'production', 'consumption', 'generating', and 'figures'. However, there are several spelling errors, such as 'supasses', 'demostrates', 'compartively', 'Chain', 'toped', and 'teh'. These errors are noticeable and detract from the professional tone required for an Academic Task 1 report. To reach a higher band, focus on accuracy in spelling and collocation. Using more precise vocabulary, such as 'surpassed' instead of 'showed highest figures', would also demonstrate a more sophisticated control of language.

Grammatical Range and Accuracy — Band 5.5

The response contains a mix of simple and complex sentence structures, but there are frequent grammatical errors that occasionally impede the flow. Examples include 'China and United States showed highest figures' (missing articles), 'demostrates compartively low number' (subject-verb agreement and article usage), and 'Germany remain the only country' (subject-verb agreement). Punctuation is generally acceptable, but the sentence fragments and the incomplete final sentence indicate a lack of control over complex structures. To improve, proofread for basic subject-verb agreement and ensure that articles are used correctly before nouns.
