Task Achievement / Task Response — Band 6.0

The response covers all parts of the task by identifying the top ten countries and comparing production and consumption figures. You successfully highlighted the main features, such as China's leading position and South Korea's lower figures. However, the analysis is somewhat mechanical, listing data point by point rather than synthesizing the information more effectively. To reach a higher band, focus on grouping countries with similar trends more clearly and ensuring that the comparisons are more analytical rather than just a recitation of the provided statistics.

Coherence and Cohesion — Band 6.5

The essay is organized into logical paragraphs, with an introduction, an overview, and body paragraphs. Cohesive devices such as 'Subsequently', 'Next', and 'Following this' are used to guide the reader. However, some transitions feel repetitive or slightly forced. The referencing is generally clear, but the flow between sentences could be improved by varying the structure of your comparisons. The paragraphing is appropriate, and the overall progression of ideas is logical, which helps the reader follow the information presented in the bar chart.

Lexical Resource — Band 5.5

You demonstrate an adequate range of vocabulary for the task, including terms like 'production', 'consumption', and 'generating'. However, there are several instances of awkward word choices, such as 'absorbing', 'gripping', and 'intense' (used as a verb), which are not appropriate in this context. Additionally, there are minor spelling errors like 'catagaries' and 'observerd'. To improve, focus on using more precise collocations related to data reporting and ensure that your vocabulary is used in a way that sounds natural and accurate for an academic report.

Grammatical Range and Accuracy — Band 5.5

The response uses a mix of simple and complex sentence structures. While the meaning is generally clear, there are several grammatical errors, such as 'the korea is had least amount', 'the production of the china', and 'no one rank'. Punctuation errors, such as the unnecessary apostrophe in 'killo-watt hour's', also occur. While you attempt to use complex sentences, the frequency of errors in basic grammar and subject-verb agreement prevents a higher score. Focus on proofreading for basic grammatical accuracy and ensuring that articles and prepositions are used correctly.
