Task Achievement / Task Response — Band 5.5

The response covers the main features of the chart, identifying the highest and lowest producers/consumers. However, the analysis is somewhat superficial. While you mention China and the US as leaders and Korea as the lowest, the grouping of the remaining six countries is a bit vague. To reach a higher band, you should provide more specific data points for these countries rather than grouping them into a broad range. Additionally, the overview is slightly inaccurate, as you state 'all figure are majored in production', which is a grammatical error that obscures the clear reporting of data. The response addresses the task requirements but lacks the analytical depth required for a higher score.

Coherence and Cohesion — Band 5.5

The essay is organised into paragraphs, which helps the reader follow the structure. However, the use of cohesive devices is mechanical and sometimes inaccurate. For example, 'Where as' is used incorrectly to start a sentence, and the transition between the overview and the body paragraphs is abrupt. Referencing is occasionally unclear, such as 'all this country', which lacks proper plural agreement. While there is a logical progression from the highest to the lowest, the lack of sophisticated linking words makes the flow feel disjointed. Improving the variety and accuracy of transition signals would significantly enhance the coherence of your writing.

Lexical Resource — Band 5.0

The vocabulary is limited and repetitive. You frequently use the same verbs ('used', 'produced', 'consumed') without variation. There are also several word-choice errors, such as 'majored in' instead of 'measured in', and 'manufacture of power' instead of 'generation of electricity'. These errors occasionally impede the clarity of your message. To improve, you should focus on learning collocations related to data reporting, such as 'accounted for', 'ranked first', or 'experienced a significant output'. Expanding your range to include more precise terminology for describing trends and comparisons will help you achieve a higher band score.

Grammatical Range and Accuracy — Band 5.0

The response contains frequent grammatical errors that affect readability. There are issues with subject-verb agreement ('China and us was', 'all this country use'), article usage ('the China', 'the united states'), and sentence structure. Many sentences are simple, and attempts at more complex structures often result in errors, such as 'it above 5000 kWh' or 'it around 500 kWh'. Punctuation is also inconsistent, with unnecessary spaces before commas. While the meaning is generally understandable, the high frequency of basic errors in grammar and punctuation prevents the response from reaching a higher band. Focus on mastering basic sentence construction and subject-verb agreement.
