Task Achievement / Task Response — Band 5.0
The response fails to meet the minimum word count requirement of 150 words, which negatively impacts the score. While you have identified the main features of the chart, the analysis is somewhat superficial. You have listed data points without effectively synthesizing the information or highlighting significant trends or contrasts beyond simple comparisons. The overview is also quite brief and lacks a clear summary of the overall relationship between production and consumption. To improve, ensure you provide a more comprehensive overview and extend your analysis by grouping countries or identifying broader patterns rather than just listing individual figures.
Coherence and Cohesion — Band 5.5
The response is organized into paragraphs, but the flow between sentences is often mechanical. You use some cohesive devices like 'Moreover' and 'Apart from this,' but they are sometimes used incorrectly or do not logically connect the ideas. For instance, the transition between production and consumption is abrupt. The referencing is occasionally unclear, such as when you refer to 'maximum consumption of source.' To improve, focus on using a wider variety of linking words and ensure that each paragraph has a clear, unified focus. Improving the logical progression between sentences will help the reader follow your analysis more easily.
Lexical Resource — Band 5.0
The vocabulary is somewhat limited and repetitive. You frequently use the word 'noted' and 'produce/consumption' without much variation. There are also some awkward word choices, such as 'usage of source' and 'consume by pupil of korea,' which are not appropriate for an academic report. The spelling of country names like 'china,' 'united states,' and 'canada' should always be capitalized. To reach a higher band, try to incorporate more precise academic vocabulary related to data description, such as 'accounted for,' 'surpassed,' 'a significant proportion,' or 'the figures for.'
Grammatical Range and Accuracy — Band 5.0
The response contains several grammatical errors that occasionally impede clarity. There are issues with subject-verb agreement, such as 'China produce' instead of 'produces,' and inconsistent punctuation, particularly with the use of semicolons and commas in lists (e.g., '1,057;936.2 and 871'). Sentence structures are generally simple, and there is a lack of complex sentence forms. To improve, focus on mastering basic subject-verb agreement and punctuation rules. Additionally, try to incorporate more complex sentence structures, such as using relative clauses or subordinating conjunctions, to demonstrate a wider grammatical range.
