Task Achievement / Task Response — Band 6.0

The response covers all parts of the task by identifying the top ten countries for both production and consumption. You successfully highlight the main features, such as China's dominance and the Republic of Korea's lower figures. However, the report is largely a list of data points rather than a comparative analysis. To reach a higher band, you should group countries more effectively and focus on the relationship between production and consumption (e.g., noting that Germany consumes more than it produces). The inclusion of 'billion kwh' in the second paragraph is a positive detail, but ensure consistency in units throughout the text.

Coherence and Cohesion — Band 6.0

The response is logically organized into an introduction, two body paragraphs, and a clear overview. You use basic cohesive devices like 'First and foremost', 'Moreover', and 'On the other hand' to transition between ideas. However, the progression within paragraphs is somewhat mechanical, relying heavily on listing figures rather than synthesizing information. Referencing is occasionally unclear, such as the phrase 'France & Brazil' appearing in the consumption paragraph, which creates confusion. Improving the flow between sentences by using more varied linking phrases would enhance the overall coherence.

Lexical Resource — Band 6.0

You demonstrate an adequate range of vocabulary for the task, using terms like 'illustrates', 'consumption rate', and 'production'. However, there are several errors in capitalization (e.g., 'china', 'United states', 'korea') and inconsistent unit labeling. Some phrasing is repetitive, such as the frequent use of 'produced... units of electricity' and 'consumption of... billion kwh'. To improve, try to vary your verbs and nouns, and ensure that proper nouns are consistently capitalized to maintain a professional academic tone.

Grammatical Range and Accuracy — Band 5.5

The response uses a mix of simple and complex sentence structures. While the meaning is generally clear, there are frequent grammatical errors, particularly with articles ('the United states') and punctuation. You have issues with sentence fragments, such as 'While, United states produced 4,099 kWh units', where the introductory clause is incorrectly punctuated. Additionally, there are errors in subject-verb agreement and possessive forms, such as 'it's production' instead of 'its production'. While these errors do not impede communication, they occur frequently enough to limit your score in this criterion.
