The bar chart below shows the top ten countries for the production and consumption of electricity in 2014.

Summarize the information by selecting and reporting the main features, and make comparisons where relevant.

Student answer (Band 6.5)

The bar chart illustrates the ten highest producing and consumers of electricity throughout 2014 based on billion kWh with almost all of the countries producing more electric than they are consuming.

China and the USA produce and use significantly more than the other eight countries. Moreover, it is evident that nine of the the ten countries produce more than they use with only Germany experiencing a higher consumption than production. China both produces and consumes the most electricity whilst Korea republic is the opposite.

The top half of countries all have greater production as opposed to consumption. Aforementioned China is the highest producer and consumer with roughly 5.4 billion kWh produced whilst using just over 5.3 billion. The categories almost converge in the case of Russia with just over one billion for each category.

The lower half the ten countries demonstrates only Canada producing more than 600billion. Similar to Russia, Korea republic almost converges however they are the lowest producer and consumer of electricity with both below 500billion kWh.
