The bar chart below shows the top ten countries for the production and consumption of electricity in 2014.

Summarize the information by selecting and reporting the main features, and make comparisons where relevant.

Student answer (Band 6.5)

The bar chart illustrates the generation and usage of electricity from top ten nations in 2014, measuring unit is billion kWh.

Overall, China and the United States of America are the biggest electricity generators and consumers. Russia produces and consumes in the same amount, whereas Republic of Korea is the least among all nations.

Electricity is produced and consumed in thr large amount by China, exactly 5,398 billion kWh and 5,322 billion kWh respectively. Second to China is the United Sates of America generating 4,099 billion kWh and using 3,866 billion kWh. Russia marks the third spot and has relatively same amount of production and consumption with a slight difference of 19 kWh.

Other countries produces and consumes below 1000 kWh. Germany is the only one that appears to have more usage than production of electric current, which is exactly 526.6 billion kWh generation and 582.5 billion kWh usage. Republic of Korea has significantly less production of 485.1 billion kWh and usage of 449.5 kWh globally.
