Task Achievement / Task Response — Band 5.0

The student attempts to address the task by summarizing the main features of the bar chart regarding electricity production and consumption in 2014. An overview is attempted in the second paragraph, mentioning China and the United States at the top and Germany and Korea at the bottom. However, the response contains numerous inaccurate, confusing, and unnatural expressions when reporting data, such as '5,398 production billion' and 'Canada showing to much least production'. While several data points from the chart are correctly included, the overall reporting lacks clarity and precision. The response covers the main features superficially and is hindered by awkward phrasing.

Coherence and Cohesion — Band 5.0

The text is divided into four paragraphs, including an introduction, an overview, and two body paragraphs covering the ten countries. However, the logical progression is frequently disrupted by awkward transitions and poor sentence construction. Cohesive devices are used mechanically or incorrectly, such as 'Firstly', 'Furthermore', 'Therefore', and 'In contrast', which do not always logically fit the relationships between data points. Referencing and linking within sentences are weak, leading to a disjointed reading experience. Paragraphing is attempted, but internal cohesion needs significant improvement.

Lexical Resource — Band 4.5

The vocabulary used is very basic and often strained. The student repeatedly relies on awkward collocations and word forms, such as 'makes larger productions and consumption electricity', 'production billion', and 'too much least production'. There are frequent lexical errors that make sentences difficult to decode. While some basic topic vocabulary is present ('production', 'consumption', 'rank', 'countries'), the range is very limited and lacks the flexibility and precision required for higher bands.

Grammatical Range and Accuracy — Band 4.5

The response features a very limited range of grammatical structures, consisting mostly of simple and attempted complex sentences that are heavily flawed. There are frequent grammatical errors throughout the text, including subject-verb agreement issues ('China and United States are... who makes'), incorrect verb forms ('USA have 4,099, 3,866 produce electricity'), and misuse of prepositions and comparative structures ('very lower to make consumption', 'nearlty close with production'). These errors frequently impede communication and place a heavy burden on the reader.
