Task Achievement / Task Response — Band 5.5
The student covers the main features of the chart, including the top-ranking countries like China and the United States, as well as the notable exception of Germany where consumption exceeds production. Key data points such as China's production figure of 5,398 billion kWh are correctly identified. However, there are some inaccuracies in reporting specific figures, such as stating that Russia's consumption is 3,866 kWh (which actually belongs to the US). The overview is somewhat repetitive, appearing twice in the essay, but the response successfully contrasts production and consumption across the top ten countries.
Coherence and Cohesion — Band 5.5
The response is organised into paragraphs, beginning with an introduction, followed by a general overview, and then supporting body details. However, the logical progression is hindered by repeating the word 'Overall' and introducing a second introductory-style paragraph ('Overall, China and USA production is highest amoung the all country'). Cohesive devices are basic and sometimes used incorrectly, such as 'while USA hold second position' and repetitive use of 'while'. Paragraphing needs tighter structure to ensure a smoother flow of information.
Lexical Resource — Band 5.0
The vocabulary used is generally adequate for the task, attempting some less common words like 'comparative overview', 'exception', and 'betray the trand'. However, there are numerous lexical and spelling errors, such as 'express' instead of 'expressed', 'excaption' and 'excaptrion' instead of 'exception', 'amoung' instead of 'among', and 'trand' instead of 'trend'. Word formation and collocations are occasionally awkward, which limits the score to Band 5.0.
Grammatical Range and Accuracy — Band 5.0
The student attempts a mix of simple and complex sentence structures, but grammatical accuracy is weak throughout the text. There are persistent errors in subject-verb agreement (e.g., 'production of electricity in all country is more than it consumption'), incorrect pronouns ('it consumption'), and missing articles ('Germany have a exception'). Punctuation and sentence boundaries are also flawed, with several run-on sentences and fragments joined improperly by conjunctions. These errors frequently cause strain for the reader.
