The bar chart below shows the top ten countries for the production and consumption of electricity in 2014.

Summarize the information by selecting and reporting the main features, and make comparisons where relevant.

Student answer (Band 6.0)

The bar chart illustrates the top ten largest country production and consumption of electricity in 2014, while value measured in billion kwh.

Overall, China and Us had by far the most production and consumption of energy. It is clear that all the nations listed in graph produced more power than used, expect for Germany.

China clearly topped the chart, with 5,398 billion kwh electricity produced and 5,322 billion kwh of energy utilized. USA ranked second, generating approximately 4,099 billion kwh and using roughly 3,866 billion kwh of electric energy. Russia was third in the graph, with approximately 1,100 billion kwh power consumption and production.

Japan and India each had roughly an average 950 billion kwh energy produced, while used around 700 billion kwh. Canada, France, Brazil and Germany each generated approximately 550 billion kWh of electric energy and consumed about 500 billion kWh. The least producer and user of electricity was the Republic of Korea, with 485.1 billion kWh and 449.5 billion kwh. Respectively.
