The bar chart below shows the top ten countries for the production and consumption of electricity in 2014.

Summarize the information by selecting and reporting the main features, and make comparisons where relevant.

Student answer (Band 6.0)

The bar chart illustrates the production and consumption of electricity (in billion) by top 10 countries around the world, in the year 2014.

Overall, all 9 countries except Germany have excess production of electricity, but Germany have excess consumption of electricity over production.

Initially, China is the largest producer of electricity(5,398 kWh), with a consumption of 5322 (kWh). United States is second largest producer, with a production of almost 4100 kWh and saving of 233 kWh electricity. Russia and Korea showed a same pattern, they both have a very small gap between their production and consumption of electricity.

Japan and India, on the 4th and the 5th rank have excess savings as, their production is more than their consumption, of a good amount. Furthermore, Canada, France, Brazil, all three of the countries have their production more than 500 kWh but less than 600 kWh and consumption is more than 400 kWh but less than 500 KWh. At last, the Germany on the 9th rank showed a unique pattern, as it's production is less than the consumption with a difference of 56 KWh.
