The bar chart below shows the top ten countries for the production and consumption of electricity in 2014.

Summarize the information by selecting and reporting the main features, and make comparisons where relevant.

Student answer (Band 6.0)

The given bar chart illustrates the comparison between production and consumption of electricity by the ten nations in 2014. Both consumptions and production of electricity are measured in billion kilowatt -hour.

Overall, China and United states produced the highest amount of units followed by Russia. China and America are also the biggest consumers of electricity. On the other hand, Korea is the nation which produced and consumed least amount of electricity. Germany is the only nation which has more consumption than its production.

China is the most significant nation for consumption and production. It produced 5398 kWh electricity and consumed 5322 kWh which is slightly less than its production. America produce almost 1000kWh less than China, while its consumption is almost double less in comparsion to China at 3866kWh. Russia and Japan produced 1057 and 856.7 kWh electricity respectively. Russia consumption was more than japan which is 1038kWh.

India production and consumption were 871 and 698.8 Kwh respectively. Germany is the only nation with higher consumption level. It produced 526.6kWh and consumption is slightly more which is 582.5kWh. Korea is the nation with least production and consumption which is 485.1 and 449.5 respectively.
