In overview; these nations are having electricity with high voltage of consumption and a china had a highest rank of production around about 5398 and consumption also around about it and the most lowest rates of korea and france had lowest rates in consumption and not a big difference in brazil and canada.

Task Achievement / Task Response: Band 5.0

The student addresses the task by reporting several main features of the chart, including data for China and the United States, as well as grouped ranges for other nations. However, the overview is extremely poorly structured, containing informal phrasing and grammatical errors ('In overview; these nations are having electricity...'). Furthermore, there are minor inaccuracies and vague statements, such as describing countries as 'powerful nations and they are collobrate to each other,' which strays into irrelevant commentary. While key data points like China's production (5398) and consumption (5322) are correctly extracted, the overall selection and reporting lack the precision and polished analytical structure expected at higher bands. The response satisfies the basic requirements of summarising the data, but the weak overview and imprecise phrasing pull the score down to Band 5.0.

Coherence and Cohesion: Band 5.0

The response exhibits significant structural issues. The opening overview sentence is awkwardly merged with the introduction, followed by a fragmented overview sentence separated by semicolons and commas that fails to provide a clear summary. Paragraphing is attempted, with body paragraphs touching on specific countries, but logical progression is hindered by poor cohesive devices and run-on sentences. For instance, the transition between sentences often relies on repetitive conjunctions or lacks proper linking altogether. Referencing is sometimes unclear, such as the sudden shift into political commentary about nations collaborating. While the text is roughly divisible into an introduction, overview-like statements, and body details, the mechanical and faulty cohesion places this at a Band 5.0 level.

Lexical Resource: Band 5.0

The student demonstrates a limited, basic vocabulary range with frequent word choice and collocation errors. Examples include 'highest ten nations' instead of 'top ten countries,' 'high voltage of consumption,' and 'most lowest rates.' There are also spelling errors such as 'collobrate.' While the student successfully extracts and reproduces numerical data and basic terms like 'production' and 'consumption,' attempts at less common or more descriptive vocabulary are inaccurate or unnatural. The lexical range is minimally adequate for conveying the basic data points, but the persistent vocabulary errors and lack of sophisticated phrasing restrict the score to Band 5.0.

Grammatical Range and Accuracy: Band 5.0

The response features a very limited range of grammatical structures, relying heavily on simple sentences or poorly linked compound structures. There are frequent grammatical errors throughout the text, including subject-verb agreement issues ('The chart illustrate'), incorrect verb tenses ('these nations are having'), and missing articles or prepositions ('a china had a highest rank'). Complex structures are rarely attempted, and when the student tries to link clauses, punctuation is often misused (e.g., semicolons used incorrectly in the introduction/overview). These persistent errors cause some difficulty for the reader and demonstrate weak control over basic and complex grammatical forms, aligning with the Band 5.0 descriptors.
