The bar chart below shows the top ten countries for the production and consumption of electricity in 2014.

Summarize the information by selecting and reporting the main features, and make comparisons where relevant.

Student answer (Band 6.0)

The bar chart illustrates study of electricity production and consumption across ten different countries, measured in billion kWh.

Overall, China and United States lead significantly in both generation and usage of electricity. Furthermore, Germany is the only nation who holds more consumption than generation.

At the first glance, China ranks first, producing 5398 billion kWh and consuming 5322 billion kWh. It is followed by United states generating 4099 billion kWh energy and using 3866 billion kWh. The range drastically dropped with Russia by producing 1057 billion kWh and consuming 1038 billion kWh of electricity.

Moreover, for the remaining nations, Japan, India, Canada, France, Brazil, Germany and Korea Republic, the range almost remain stagnent. India holds production of 871 billion kWh and consumes 698.8 billion kWh. Brazil and France has average production of 545 billion kWh and usage of approximately 460 billion kWh. Conversely, Germany is the only country whose consumption excesseds its production, i.e, 526.6 and 582.5 billion kWh.
