Task Achievement / Task Response: Band 4.5

The response attempts to cover the main features of the chart, mentioning China and the United States as the top producers and consumers, and identifying Korea near the bottom. However, the information is presented in a very simplistic and repetitive manner. There is a lack of clear comparison across the full range of countries, as groups like Japan, India, and Russia are dismissed with vague observations. The overview attempted in the final paragraph is repetitive and fails to synthesize the main trends effectively. Figures are cited for China and the US, but the overall development of ideas is limited, leading to a score in the lower band range.

Coherence and Cohesion: Band 4.0

The response shows an attempt to structure the essay into paragraphs, including an introduction and a conclusion. However, the logical progression is weak and disjointed. Phrases like 'Let's summerise them one by one' are inappropriate for an academic task. Cohesive devices are either missing, misused, or overly repetitive (e.g., 'then the other', 'lower then'). Paragraphing is poorly handled, with a conversational tone disrupting the formal requirements of Academic Task 1. Referencing is frequently unclear, making it difficult to follow the relationships between ideas.

Lexical Resource: Band 4.0

The vocabulary used is very basic and repetitive. Words like 'manufacturing', 'production', and 'status' (used to mean countries or states) are repeated constantly and often incorrectly (e.g., 'manufacturing of electricity', 'eight more stature'). There are frequent word choice and collocation errors, such as 'ouput lessely lower' and 'equaly spend thier electricity manufacturing'. The range of vocabulary is severely limited and inadequate for discussing statistical data effectively, resulting in frequent strain on the reader.

Grammatical Range and Accuracy: Band 4.0

The grammatical range is extremely limited, consisting mostly of simple and attempted complex sentences that contain severe structural errors. There are persistent mistakes in subject-verb agreement (e.g., 'The chart illustrate', 'China who create'), preposition usage ('Consumption on electricity'), and comparative forms ('lessely lower then'). Punctuation and capitalization are also erratic, with lowercase letters for proper nouns like 'china' and 'japan'. Errors are frequent and often impede communication, though the general topic remains discernable.
