Task Achievement / Task Response: Band 5.0

The response addresses the task only partially, presenting some key features and comparisons from the bar chart, but missing a clear, cohesive overview of the data as a whole. While the student correctly identifies China as the top producer and consumer and notes the bottom-ranked country, Korea, Rep., the selection of information is limited. Ideas are under-developed, and there are inaccuracies in reporting specific data points, such as stating that the United States and India were the only countries using less power than they produced, whereas the chart shows other nations like Canada and France also had higher production than consumption figures. Furthermore, some data references are vague or imprecise, preventing a fully developed exploration of the visual information.

Coherence and Cohesion: Band 5.0

The essay displays some basic organization with a clear paragraph structure separating the introduction, body details, and concluding points, but it lacks a clear overall progression. Cohesive devices are used repetitively or inaccurately, such as the awkward transitions "Initially" and "while compare to which it was producing." Referencing is occasionally unclear, particularly with pronouns and comparative links like "while platora of the countries were using same amount of current they generated." Paragraphing is present, but the logical flow between sentences and paragraphs is frequently disrupted, resulting in a somewhat disjointed reading experience that fails to guide the reader smoothly through the comparative data.

Lexical Resource: Band 5.0

Vocabulary use is limited and minimally adequate for the task. The student attempts some less common terms and data-related vocabulary, but noticeable errors and awkward word choices occur frequently, such as "manufacturing and using of power", "billon per kwh", "electricty", and "platora". Spelling and word-form errors, including "larget", "wich", and capitalization issues like "china", "korea, Rep.", and "United States", cause some difficulty for the reader and prevent the lexical range from achieving higher bands. The repetition of basic terms such as "power", "current", and "country" further restricts the sophistication of the response.

Grammatical Range and Accuracy: Band 5.0

The response demonstrates a very limited range of structures, relying mostly on simple sentences alongside poorly controlled attempts at complex forms. Frequent errors in grammar, punctuation, and article usage are present throughout the text, including subject-verb agreement issues ("India and United States were only country's wich was using"), missing articles, and awkward phrasing within grammatical patterns. Punctuation errors and run-on comparisons also occur. These frequent errors require the reader to slow down and can cause occasional difficulty in fully grasping the intended meaning of the sentences.
