Task Achievement / Task Response: Band 5.0

The response covers the main features of the chart by identifying China and the United States as leading producers and consumers, and mentioning the general rankings. However, the task is only partially addressed because the student presents data list-style rather than selecting and reporting the most significant trends comprehensively. Some data points are reported imprecisely or with factual inaccuracies, such as stating Canada's consumption was almost equal to Korea Rep, 499.5, when the chart shows Canada's consumption at 499.9 and Korea Rep at 449.5. The overview mentions China and Korea Republic, but lacks a broader summary of the overall relationship between production and consumption across the top ten countries.

Coherence and Cohesion: Band 5.5

There is some organisation with an introduction, an overview paragraph, and a body paragraph. However, there is no clear overall progression; the body paragraph reads like a disconnected list of data points without a logical flow of comparison. Cohesive devices are used awkwardly or repetitively, such as starting sentences with 'To commence' or 'Last but not least', which feels unnatural for an academic report. Referencing and paragraphing could be improved to guide the reader smoothly through the statistics.

Lexical Resource: Band 5.5

The vocabulary is limited but minimally adequate to convey basic data. The student attempts some less common terms and data verbs such as 'generated', 'recorded', and 'output', but there are noticeable errors in word choice and numerical formatting, such as using commas incorrectly for decimals (e.g., '936,2' and '698,8'). Spelling and word formation are generally acceptable, but the overall range lacks precision and variety, restricting the ability to express comparisons fluidly.

Grammatical Range and Accuracy: Band 5.5

The student uses a mix of simple and complex sentence structures, but attempts at complex sentences are frequently faulty. There are frequent errors in prepositions and punctuation, such as 'production of electricity of ten leading countries' and missing units or awkward phrasing like 'consumed 3,866 billion electricity'. Comma splices and awkward modifiers are present throughout the text, and these errors can occasionally cause difficulty or confusion for the reader.
