Task Achievement / Task Response: Band 6.0

You identify the chart’s main pattern: China leads both production and consumption, Korea is lowest, and Germany is the exception where consumption exceeds production. These are relevant overview points, and several figures are reported accurately, including Russia’s consumption and the values for Japan and India. However, some comparisons are imprecise or incomplete. China’s figures are about 5,398 and 5,322 billion kWh, rather than simply “approximately 5500,” and the United States figures are not both around 4,000. The claim that Russia, Japan and India’s production and consumption “remained almost the same” also overlooks India’s more substantial gap. Canada, France and Brazil are listed without comparing their consumption figures. More precise, balanced reporting of the key differences would strengthen the response.

Coherence and Cohesion: Band 5.5

The response has a recognisable structure, with an introduction, an overview and two detail paragraphs, and the reader can follow the broad movement from the largest producers to the smaller countries. However, progression within paragraphs is sometimes weakened by abrupt or mechanical transitions such as “Firstly,” “At the same time,” “Secondly” and “Lastly.” The sentence beginning “while Russia, Japan and India’s numbers…” combines several comparisons without a clear structure, and the final paragraph gives production figures for three countries but does not complete the comparison with consumption. Punctuation also disrupts flow, particularly the full stop after “electricity” in the overview and the run-together “electropower.Germay.” Grouping countries by scale or by whether consumption is above or below production would make the organisation clearer.

Lexical Resource: Band 5.5

You use a reasonable range of task-related vocabulary, including “production,” “consumption,” “accounted for,” and “manufactured,” so the topic is generally clear. There are also attempts to vary wording, such as “usage” and “power.” However, some choices are inaccurate or unnatural for describing chart data: “used most kWh” and “standalone in this list” are awkward, while “electropower” is not a natural substitute for electricity in this context. Spelling errors such as “Germay” and “ans” are noticeable, and “consequently” does not correctly express the intended meaning when listing figures. Aim for precise, conventional chart language and check spelling; for example, use “generated” and “consumed” consistently and use “respectively” when matching figures to countries.

Grammatical Range and Accuracy: Band 5.5

You attempt both simple and more complex sentence forms, including a relative clause in “which is closely followed by United States” and a contrast in the sentence about Germany. The main meaning is usually recoverable, but some grammatical and punctuation errors reduce accuracy. For example, “China produced and used most kWh … which is approximately 5500” has an unclear reference for “which,” and “there consumption were differ” contains errors in possessive form, agreement and verb construction. The overview’s “whereas” is incorrectly separated from the preceding sentence, and “they produced” does not agree clearly with the singular country Germany. Review sentence boundaries, subject–verb agreement and pronoun reference, and build comparisons in complete, controlled clauses.
