Summarize the information by selecting and reporting the main features, and make comparisons where relevant.

Student answer (Band 4.5)

The Above chart illustrates The consumption And Production of Electricity in 2014 For top ten countries

As we can clearly see the Country that is on top of Consuming and prodcing Electrity Is china The Above chart shows us That China and Usa are At very big lead from All other top 2-10 countries

The usa And china Has a tough competetion In producing and consuming electricity in 2014

we Can clearly see that most of them (countries) Didnt used 100% of its produced energy mostly if i figure they used all 90% of energy they produced so the remaining 10% should have been with the state except germany which have consumed more than its production

also we can see a very tough competetion between germany and brazil electricity prodution there is only 4.1

billion kilo watt difference between brazil and germany prodcution of electricity

Task Achievement / Task Response: Band 4.5

You identify the main overall feature correctly: China leads both production and consumption, and China and the USA are far ahead of the other countries. You also notice Germany’s unusual pattern, consuming more than it produces. However, the response reports few accurate comparisons or figures, and the claim that most countries used “90%” of their production is an unsupported generalisation; the proportions vary, and Germany is not the only useful comparison to discuss. The Brazil–Germany production gap is about 4.1 billion kWh, but this small difference is given more attention than the much larger contrasts. The response is also five words below the required minimum. Include a clearer overview and select several key figures to support it.

Coherence and Cohesion: Band 4.5

The ideas are broadly relevant and there is a basic sequence: an opening, comments on the leading countries, then observations about consumption and the lower-ranked producers. However, the response is presented as one continuous block, so the overview and supporting details are not clearly separated. Connections between points are also loose: “also we can see” introduces another observation without showing how it relates to the previous comparison, while “if i figure” makes the reasoning difficult to follow. Repeated use of “we can clearly see” does not create a clear progression. Use separate paragraphs for the overview and key comparisons, and organise the details by meaningful patterns, such as the leading pair and the smaller producers.

Lexical Resource: Band 5.0

The response uses some task-relevant vocabulary, including “consumption,” “production,” “difference,” and “electricity,” and the reader can generally identify the intended comparisons. However, the range is limited and several phrases are imprecise or informal, such as “tough competition” for comparing chart values and “with the state” for the unconsumed electricity. Spelling errors—including “prodcing,” “Electrity,” “competetion,” and “prodcution”—are frequent enough to distract. Some word forms are also inaccurate, as in “consuming and prodcing.” Aim for precise chart language such as “generated,” “used,” “exceeded,” and “by contrast,” and check spelling carefully before submitting.

Grammatical Range and Accuracy: Band 4.5

There are attempts to form longer sentences, for example the sentence beginning “we can clearly see that most of them,” but control is weak and errors often make the meaning harder to follow. Subject–verb agreement is inaccurate in “China and Usa are” followed by “Has,” and “most of them … Didnt used” combines an incorrect auxiliary with the verb form. Articles and sentence boundaries are also problematic: the opening lacks a clear article and full stop, and capitalisation is inconsistent within sentences. Most structures are simple or joined loosely with “and” or “so,” with little accurate variety. Practise writing short, complete sentences first, then add controlled comparisons using forms such as “produced more than it consumed.”
