Task Achievement / Task Response: Band 5.0
You identify the main leaders accurately: China and the United States have the highest production and consumption, and your figures for these countries, Canada and France match the chart. However, the overview is incomplete and partly inaccurate. Korea has the lowest production, but Germany—not Korea—has the lowest consumption among these countries? In fact, Korea’s consumption is 449.5, below Germany’s 582.5, so Korea is also the lowest consumer. The claim that Germany was “also least source” is inaccurate for production and unclear for consumption. More importantly, the response omits major comparisons such as the sharp drop after the United States and Germany’s consumption exceeding its production. Develop the overview around these patterns and report a wider selection of key data.
Coherence and Cohesion: Band 5.5
The response has a recognisable structure: an introduction, an overview and two detail paragraphs. Sequencing from the largest countries to smaller ones gives the reader some direction, and phrases such as “Overall” and “Moving further” signal transitions. However, progression is limited because the final paragraph adds little beyond repeating Korea’s low position and making an unclear statement about Germany. Some linking is mechanical or inaccurate: “Whereas” begins a fragment, while “it is followed by United States was” joins ideas awkwardly. Group the figures into clear comparisons and use transitions that show the relationship between them, such as contrast or ranking, rather than relying on generic sequencing phrases.
Lexical Resource: Band 5.0
You use some relevant task vocabulary, including “production,” “consumption,” “dominant,” and “accounted for,” and you attempt alternatives such as “supply” and “manufacturing.” However, the range is limited and several choices are inaccurate or unnatural: “popolar ten countries,” “dominant source,” “in takes,” and “least source of electricity” make parts of the report difficult to interpret. Spelling errors such as “electricty,” “korean,” and “Coversely” also reduce precision. Aim for consistent, accurate terms for the two measures, and use standard collocations such as “generated” and “consumed.” Check spelling and avoid replacing precise chart terms with expressions that do not fit the context.
Grammatical Range and Accuracy: Band 5.0
You attempt both simple and more complex sentence forms, including a relative clause in “which accounted for 5398 and 5322” and a contrast introduced by “Whereas.” However, control is inconsistent, and several sentences contain faulty structures that make relationships unclear. “Whereas, korean had…” is a dependent clause used as a sentence, and “it is followed by United states was…” combines incompatible constructions. There are also problems with articles and sentence boundaries, as in “China was on top for supply and use” and the lowercase “it” after a full stop. Practise building complete sentences with one clear subject and verb, and check agreement, articles, capitalization and punctuation when editing.
