Task Achievement / Task Response: Band 6.0
You identify the chart’s main pattern accurately: China leads both production and consumption, the United States is second, and Germany is the only country where consumption exceeds production. You also include several relevant figures, including the leading countries’ totals and Germany’s values. However, coverage of the remaining countries is uneven: the grouped range “between 1038 billion to 455.8 billion” is imprecise and does not clearly compare each country, while Brazil and Korea are mentioned without figures. The overview could also state more clearly that the two leading countries are far ahead of the others. More precise comparisons and fuller reporting of the middle-ranking countries would make the response more complete.
Coherence and Cohesion: Band 5.5
The response has a recognisable structure, moving from an introduction and overview to details about the leading countries, the middle group, and Germany, Brazil and Korea. Linking phrases such as “Overall,” “on the other hand,” and “Generally” help signal relationships. However, progression becomes less clear in the long sentence listing Russia through France, and the phrase “They collectively consumed between…” does not clearly identify which countries or explain the comparison. Some transitions are also repetitive, particularly the repeated use of “on the other hand.” Use separate, focused sentences or paragraphs for the leading countries and the remaining countries, and make references such as “they” explicit to improve the flow.
Lexical Resource: Band 5.5
You use relevant chart vocabulary, including “production,” “consumed,” “generated,” “power consumption rate,” and “respectively,” so the topic is generally clear. There is some variation in how you describe the data, but several choices are imprecise or unnatural: “stood first in producing and consuming,” “secured second position,” and “some billion kWh … was left” do not express the comparisons naturally. “Rest of the countries” is also too broad when you then name only some of them. Pay attention to spelling and capitalisation in “korea” and “kwh.” More precise collocations such as “ranked first,” “consumption,” and “produced more than they consumed” would make the report clearer and more appropriate to the task.
Grammatical Range and Accuracy: Band 5.0
You attempt both simple and more extended sentence forms, and the main comparisons are usually understandable. However, some errors in verb forms, agreement, articles, and sentence boundaries reduce accuracy. For example, “USA … produces … and consumed” shifts tense within the same sentence, while “Germany is the only country who” has an unsuitable relative construction and agreement pattern. The sentence beginning “Rest of the countries generated and use less amount” also contains several grammatical problems, and punctuation is missing after “position” and around some clauses. Keep the past tense consistent when describing 2014, check singular and plural forms, and divide long sentences into shorter units. These changes would improve control while retaining your attempts at complex structures.
