Task Achievement / Task Response: Band 5.5
You identify the main leaders and give an overview that China had the highest production and consumption, while Korea was among the lowest. Several relevant figures are included, such as China’s 5,398 and 5,322 and the United States’ 4,099 and 3,866. However, the overview is incomplete: Germany’s consumption (582.5) was higher than its production and was the only country with this pattern, an important comparison you omit. There is also a factual unit error: China’s consumption is given as “5,322 million” rather than billion kWh. The claim that Korea generated more than Germany, Brazil, France and Canada is incorrect; it produced less than all four. Cover the full pattern more accurately and compare the middle-ranking countries.
Coherence and Cohesion: Band 5.0
The response has a basic overall shape, with an opening, an overview and paragraphs containing country figures. This gives the reader some sense of how the information is grouped. However, progression within and between sentences is often unclear. For example, “Moreover, Russia and Japan both country had slightly difference between electricity” does not clearly explain the comparison, and repeated sentence fragments beginning “which was” or “which including” interrupt the flow. Linking words such as “whileas” and “Moreover” are used, but they do not consistently show the intended relationship. Organise the details into clearer comparisons—for example, the two leading countries, then the remaining countries—and use complete sentences with precise references.
Lexical Resource: Band 4.5
You attempt task-related vocabulary, including “production,” “consumption,” “highest rate” and “generated,” so the topic is generally recognisable. However, the range is limited and several word choices, collocations and spelling errors make the report difficult to read smoothly. Examples include “richest countries” for countries with the highest electricity figures, “productivity” for electricity production, and “rate” where you mean amount or figure. Spellings such as “illustretes,” “electicity” and “consuption” also reduce accuracy. Some phrases, including “clear lucid” and “second most generating electricity,” are not natural English. Build a reliable set of chart-description terms and check spelling and collocation before submitting.
Grammatical Range and Accuracy: Band 4.5
There are attempts to combine ideas, but sentence structures are limited and many sentences contain errors that make relationships difficult to follow. For instance, “China has a largest country for producing and consumption” has problems with article use and sentence construction, while “which was respectively” is an incomplete clause. Tense and verb forms are also inconsistent, as in “India had been produce electricity,” and singular/plural agreement is unclear in “Russia and Japan both country had.” Punctuation contributes to the problem: several sentences begin with lowercase “which” or “while,” and full stops divide clauses that should be connected. Practise accurate simple comparisons first, then add complex clauses once their grammar is controlled.
