Task Achievement / Task Response: Band 5.5

You identify the chart’s main contrast: China and the United States lead both production and consumption, and you include several accurate figures for these countries. You also report the values for Brazil and Germany. However, the overview is partly inaccurate: Brazil and Germany are not both among the lowest in both measures, since Germany’s consumption (582.5) exceeds its production and is higher than several countries’ consumption. The response also groups the remaining countries as having a “low rate” without showing the important middle-ranking pattern or noting that production exceeds consumption in most countries. To strengthen the report, select a few representative comparisons and make the overview more precise.

Coherence and Cohesion: Band 5.0

The response has a basic paragraph structure, moving from an introduction and overview to details and a concluding statement. Some sequencing is signalled by “Overall,” “furthermore,” and “secondly,” so the reader can follow the broad topic. However, progression is limited: the final paragraph repeats the general claim that some countries are higher and others lower rather than adding a useful comparison. Several links are mechanical or unclear, such as “then the consumption is also same,” and the long list of countries does not organise the data into meaningful groups. Develop a clearer sequence—for example, leaders first, then the remaining countries—and use linking phrases to show specific comparisons between production and consumption.

Lexical Resource: Band 5.0

You use relevant topic vocabulary, including “production,” “consumption,” “respectively,” and “rate,” and the key subject remains understandable. However, the range is limited and several words are repeated, particularly “electricity,” “countries,” and “low.” There are also noticeable spelling errors, including “cosumption,” “difrence,” and “prodution,” which reduce accuracy. Some expressions are imprecise or unnatural, such as “highly ranked in” and “the consumption is also same.” Use more precise chart language, such as “generated,” “used,” “recorded,” and “stood at,” while checking spelling and choosing natural collocations. This would make the comparisons clearer without requiring more complex vocabulary.

Grammatical Range and Accuracy: Band 4.5

You attempt both simple statements and longer sentences, and the figures are generally placed in understandable clauses. However, grammatical control is inconsistent, with frequent errors in agreement, articles, sentence boundaries, and punctuation. For example, “The bar chart illustrate” needs a singular verb, while “the production … in the china and united state is” has problems with articles, capitalisation, and agreement. The opening overview also runs several clauses together: “Overall, the production … china and united state.and the lowest…” Practise accurate simple comparison sentences first, then combine them with controlled clauses using “while” or “whereas.” Consistent capital letters and full stops would also make the meaning easier to follow.
