Overall, there are some countries which take part in the production of electricity. In 2014 the most productive country for electricity was China and this country is also on top for the consumption of electricity. China produced electricity 5398 billion kWh and they used electricity in this year 5322 billion kwh. Task Achievement / Task Response: Band 4.5

You identify the chart’s main leaders accurately: China is highest in both production and consumption, and the United States is second, with the figures for both countries reported correctly. However, the response gives little meaningful coverage of the remaining eight countries: listing their names does not summarise their relative figures or patterns. The claim that China “need[s] more development” and that the United States saves electricity for its financial situation is unsupported by the chart, which shows production and consumption rather than development or reasons for the difference. The overview is also vague (“some countries” take part). To strengthen the response, compare the other countries and note that production generally exceeds consumption, with Germany as the exception.

Coherence and Cohesion: Band 4.0

There is a basic progression from an introduction to comments on China, the United States and then the other countries, so the reader can identify the broad subject. However, the response is largely one continuous paragraph, and the ideas do not develop in a clear, organised comparison. The transition “On the other hand” does not introduce a genuine contrast, since the United States is presented as the second-largest producer and consumer, much like China is first. The final sentence groups eight countries together without explaining their figures or relationships. Use separate paragraphs for an overview and key comparisons, and connect points according to rank or whether production is above consumption. Clearer referencing would also help the reader follow each comparison.

Lexical Resource: Band 5.0

The response uses some relevant chart vocabulary, including “production,” “consumption,” “produced” and “billion kWh,” and the country names make the subject clear. However, the range is limited and several expressions are inaccurate or unnatural, such as “take part in the production,” “the most productive country for electricity,” and “the use of electricity.” Repetition of “electricity” and “country” also makes the description less precise. Spelling errors, including “cosumption,” “benificial” and “caleed,” are noticeable, while “developed countries” is not an appropriate description of what the chart measures. Build a more precise set of terms for describing quantities and comparisons, such as “generated,” “consumed,” “ranked second,” and “exceeded.”

Grammatical Range and Accuracy: Band 4.5

You attempt some longer sentences and comparisons, and the main figures can generally be understood. However, grammatical control is inconsistent, with errors in sentence structure, agreement, articles and punctuation. For example, “The cart illustrate” has a subject–verb agreement error, while “China produced electricity … and they used electricity” shifts awkwardly from a singular country to a plural pronoun. “This country need more development” also has incorrect agreement and an unclear construction. Several sentences run together, particularly the passage beginning “The use of electricity in USA,” and punctuation around “Overall, there” and “financial situation. and” is faulty. Practise accurate simple comparison sentences first, then combine them with controlled clauses using “while” or “whereas.”
