Task Achievement / Task Response: Band 5.0

You identify the chart’s subject and report several relevant figures, including China’s production and consumption and the USA’s second-place position. The comparison that China produced 76 billion kWh more than it consumed is accurate. However, the overview is unclear and partly inaccurate: Russia is not the lowest; it ranks third, while Korea is lowest in production. The statement that countries after Russia show a decline also overlooks Germany, where consumption exceeds production, and the figures are not consistently linked to the correct measure. The response therefore addresses the task only partially, with important features under-developed. Make the overview precise, compare the main groups, and report selected figures accurately. (13 words copied from the task prompt were not counted.)

Coherence and Cohesion: Band 4.5

The response has a basic paragraph structure: an introduction, an attempted overview, and paragraphs with figures and comparisons. This gives the reader some sense of the topic and sequence. However, progression is difficult to follow because ideas are repeated or loosely connected. For example, the overview says “the first and the highest” and then discusses Russia without clearly explaining the ranking, while “After that Russia, Japan, India…” does not establish a meaningful comparison. Linking phrases such as “Overall” and “After that” are used, but they do not consistently clarify relationships. Group countries by production and consumption patterns, and use clear references and transitions to guide the reader from the overview to supporting details.

Lexical Resource: Band 4.5

You use some relevant chart vocabulary, including “production,” “consumption,” “highest,” “lowest,” and “difference,” so the topic is generally recognisable. However, the range is limited and several word choices or collocations are inaccurate or unclear, such as “most dicussing area,” “has decline their consumption,” and “the uses and produce lower than 1000.” Repetition of “electricity” and “many countries” also makes the description imprecise. Spelling errors such as “consumtion” and “dicussing” further reduce control. Aim for concise, accurate comparison language—for example, “generated,” “consumed,” “exceeded,” and “was approximately”—and check spelling and word forms before finishing.

Grammatical Range and Accuracy: Band 4.5

You attempt both simple and longer sentences, and some basic comparisons are understandable, such as “production is 76 higher than consumption.” However, sentence structures are often faulty, and errors can make relationships difficult to interpret. Examples include “There are every details,” “The highest of electricity was from china,” and “After that Russia, Japan… has decline.” These show problems with agreement, articles, verb forms, and sentence construction. Punctuation and spacing are also inconsistent, as in “485.1and.” Build more reliable simple sentences first, then add controlled complex forms using clauses such as “while” or “whereas.” Check subject–verb agreement and ensure each sentence has a clear subject and verb.
