Task Achievement / Task Response: Band 5.5
You identify the chart’s main leaders accurately: China has the highest production and consumption, followed by the United States, and you note Germany as the exception where consumption exceeds production. The comparison between Russia’s figures is also relevant. However, the overview is incomplete: the large gap between the top two countries and the remaining nations is mentioned, but the broad pattern that production is generally higher than consumption is not clearly summarised. Some details are imprecise, such as calling Korea the lowest in both measures; Germany’s consumption is higher than Korea’s. Develop the overview around the main patterns, and report units consistently, since several figures are labelled “kwh” rather than billion kWh.
Coherence and Cohesion: Band 5.0
The response follows a generally understandable order, moving from China and the United States to other countries, and linking phrases such as “Moreover,” “In fact,” and “However” show an attempt to connect ideas. However, it is presented as one long paragraph, so the overview and supporting comparisons are not clearly separated. Several transitions do not express the relationship precisely, and commas join complete ideas into run-on sentences, for example after the United States figures and before “The remaining countries.” The repeated use of “in fact” also makes the progression feel repetitive. Use a short overview followed by a paragraph of selected comparisons, with full stops and linking expressions that clarify contrast or similarity.
Lexical Resource: Band 5.0
You use relevant topic vocabulary, including “production,” “consumption,” “highest,” and “difference,” so the reader can follow the subject. However, the range is limited and several word-choice, spelling, and collocation errors reduce precision: “consumpsion,” “copmared,” “lowst,” and “cosumption” are misspelled, while “a very high consumption” and “rate of production” are awkward in this context. “Khw” and “kwh” are also inconsistent forms of the unit. Aim for accurate, concise chart language such as “output,” “electricity use,” and “the figures were close,” and check spelling and standard unit notation before submitting.
Grammatical Range and Accuracy: Band 5.0
The response attempts to combine comparisons in longer sentences, but the range is limited and errors recur, sometimes making relationships harder to follow. For example, “the remaining countries has” has subject–verb disagreement, and “Germany has a higher consumption rate approximately 582.5 kwh higher then a 526.6 of a production” lacks a clear grammatical structure. Articles and sentence boundaries are also problematic, as in “with a slight difference of the production” and the comma splice after the United States figures. Use shorter, complete sentences to state each comparison, check singular and plural agreement, and practise comparative structures such as “consumption was higher than production.” Punctuation and capitalisation also need more consistent control.
