Task Achievement / Task Response: Band 6.0

You identify the main pattern accurately: China and the United States lead both production and consumption, and Korea has the lowest production figure. You also include several relevant figures, such as China’s 5,398 billion kWh of production and Russia’s 1,057. However, the overview is partly unclear: “remaining countries was almost similar” overstates how alike their figures are, and Germany’s consumption is notably higher than its production, unlike the general pattern. The report also omits this important exception and does not give Korea’s consumption figure. Some comparisons are imprecise—for example, Japan is not the lowest producer overall, but the fourth-ranked country. A clearer overview and more selective, accurate comparisons would make the key features more fully developed.

Coherence and Cohesion: Band 6.5

The response has a clear overall arrangement: an introduction, an overview, and separate paragraphs for production and consumption. This makes the information easy to follow, and transitions such as “Overall,” “However,” and “On the other side” signal changes in focus. The progression is generally logical, but some links are mechanical or do not express the relationship precisely. For instance, “However” does not clearly contrast the figures that follow, while “On the other side” is less natural for introducing the consumption data. The overview’s broad statement about the remaining countries also does not prepare the reader for Germany’s different consumption pattern. Grouping figures by meaningful similarities and using clearer comparisons would strengthen cohesion.

Lexical Resource: Band 5.0

You use relevant task vocabulary, including “production,” “consumed,” “accounted for,” and “respectively,” so the topic is generally understandable. However, the range and control are limited by repeated wording and inaccurate collocations. Phrases such as “rank countries,” “the two biggest production,” and “utilized electricity” are not natural in this context; “top-ranked countries,” “the two largest producers,” and “consumed electricity” would be clearer. Spelling and word-form errors—including “china,” “remainning,” “electricty,” “prodcution,” and “andb”—also reduce precision. Use a wider set of accurate comparison terms, such as “exceeded,” “followed by,” and “roughly twice as much,” and check spelling and standard forms of country names.

Grammatical Range and Accuracy: Band 5.0

You attempt both simple and more complex sentences, including a contrast with “while” and a comparison introduced by “whereas.” Some sentence patterns communicate the data successfully, but errors in agreement, articles, and sentence construction recur. For example, “remaining countries was” should use a plural verb, and “the china and united states” has incorrect article use. The construction “japan saw lowest electricity production was 936” combines incompatible patterns; write, for example, “Japan’s production was 936.2 billion kWh.” In “the canada, france and brazil consumed,” the article is unnecessary. Several clauses also lack a clear grammatical subject or verb. Practise building complete comparison sentences and check agreement, articles, and punctuation.
