The bar chart illustrates the production and consumption of electricity (in billion kWh) for top 10 countries in this regard.

Overall, It can be observed that China and United states lead in both production and consumption of electricity, while countries like Korea and Germany are seen at the bottom of table due to less amount of production and consumption as compared to the others on the list.

Task Achievement / Task Response: Band 5.0

You identify the chart’s subject and give a relevant overview, correctly noting that China and the United States lead in both measures. However, the response addresses the data only partially: the comparison that most countries produce more than they consume is introduced but left unfinished (“the only close call being russion which onl…”). The claim that Korea and Germany are both at the bottom in production and consumption is also imprecise, since Germany’s consumption is higher than its production and exceeds several countries’ figures. The statement that other nations average around 700 billion kWh is too broad and not supported clearly. The response is three words below the required minimum. Complete the comparisons and report key exceptions accurately.

Coherence and Cohesion: Band 5.5

The response has a recognisable paragraph structure: an introduction, an overview, and paragraphs intended to describe the figures. This gives the reader a basic route through the report. However, progression is weakened by repetition: the overview and the next paragraph both say that China and the United States lead. Linking phrases such as “Looking at the overall values” and “Now coming to” are conversational and do not create precise relationships between the data. Most importantly, the final sentence stops mid-thought, leaving the comparison unfinished and disrupting the report’s conclusion. Organise the body around clear comparisons—for example, the two leading countries, the middle group, and the Germany exception—and use concise links to show how each point relates to the overview.

Lexical Resource: Band 5.5

You use relevant chart vocabulary, including “production,” “consumption,” “lead,” and “followed by,” so the topic is generally clear. However, the range is limited and several expressions are imprecise or unnatural, such as “in this regard,” “less amount,” and “close call.” “Countries like Korea and Germany are seen at the bottom of table” is also an awkward way to describe their positions, particularly because Germany’s consumption is not among the lowest. Spelling errors—including “patters,” “regared,” and “russion”—are noticeable and reduce accuracy. Aim for precise reporting language such as “rank among the lowest,” “output,” and “the figures are broadly similar,” while checking spelling and avoiding conversational phrasing.

Grammatical Range and Accuracy: Band 5.0

The response includes some complex sentence attempts, such as “Overall, it can be observed that…” and the sentence beginning “Looking at the overall values…”. However, control is inconsistent, and the range of sentence structures is limited. The opening has an unnecessary space and article issue (“the production… for top 10 countries”), while “China leads… with over a 5000 billion kwh produced and consumed” has an awkward, faulty construction. Capitalisation and punctuation are also inconsistent, as in “Overall, It,” and the final sentence is incomplete (“which onl…”). These problems sometimes make the intended comparison difficult to follow. Use complete sentences, check articles and sentence boundaries, and practise accurate complex structures for comparing figures.
