Student answer (Band 5.5)

The bar chart illustrates the information of top ten countries for the production and use of the electricity in 2014.

Overall, it is clear that China is at the top for the production and consumption of electricity while korea, Rep are the lowest countries for both production and consumption between top ten.

China gained more reputation in 2014 for the production as 5,398kWH and the consumption as 5,322kWH of electricity. United state is at the second number because they produce 4,09KWH for production and 3,866KWH for consumption. Russia has very low number than united state which is 1,057KWH for pruction and 1,038KWH for consumption. Japan and India was at the 4th and 5th stage because they have 856.7KWH to 698.8KWH for consumption and 936.2KWH to 871KWH for production.

However, Canada was at the 6th stage and France has lower than canada that recorded as 618.9KWH to 561.2KWH for production and 499.9KWH to 462.9KWH for consumption. Brazil and Germany have recorded at the 8th and 9th stage with 530.7KWH and 526.6KWH for production while this rate is little bit small for consumption as 455.8KWH and 582.5KWH.

It is noted that Korea, Rep is listed at the 10th number because it has low consumption and production unit such as 449.5KWH for consumption and 485.1KWH for production.

Task Achievement / Task Response: Band 5.5

You identify the main pattern that China leads both measures and Korea has the lowest figures, and you include data for all ten countries. Most figures are reported accurately, including the large gap between China and the United States. However, the overview is limited, and some comparisons are unclear: “Japan and India was at the 4th and 5th stage” gives their ranks but does not clearly compare their production and consumption. The description also calls Korea the lowest for both, although Germany’s consumption (582.5) is higher than its production and exceeds several countries’ consumption figures. Focus the overview on the dominant leaders, the general decline after the top two, and Germany as the notable exception where consumption exceeds production.

Coherence and Cohesion: Band 6.0

The response has a recognisable structure: an introduction, an overview, and paragraphs covering the higher- and lower-ranked countries. This makes the information generally easy to follow, and sequencing countries by rank is a sensible approach. However, the progression is sometimes mechanical, with repeated rank-based phrasing such as “at the second number,” “4th and 5th stage,” and “10th number.” Some links between ideas are not fully clear; for example, “However” does not establish a meaningful contrast when the paragraph moves from Canada and France to Brazil and Germany. Group countries by meaningful patterns, and use clearer comparisons to connect the figures rather than relying mainly on rank order.

Lexical Resource: Band 5.0

You use relevant vocabulary for describing a chart, including “production,” “consumption,” “recorded,” and “overall,” so the topic is clear. However, the range is limited and several choices are inaccurate or unnatural, which makes some comparisons harder to understand. “Gained more reputation” does not describe a quantity of electricity, while “very low number” and “little bit small” are imprecise. There are also spelling and form errors, including “pruction,” and inconsistent capitalisation of country names. Use standard chart language such as “generated,” “consumed,” “amount,” and “ranked,” and check spelling and unit notation carefully.

Grammatical Range and Accuracy: Band 5.0

You attempt both simple and longer sentences, and the reader can usually understand the intended comparisons. However, errors occur frequently in sentence structure, agreement, articles, and verb forms. For example, “Japan and India was” should use a plural verb, and “United state is at the second number because they produce” shifts awkwardly between singular and plural subjects. The phrase “for the production as 5,398kWH” also lacks a clear grammatical connection between the measure and its figure. Build more accurate comparisons with patterns such as “China produced…, while it consumed…” and check subject–verb agreement, tense consistency, and sentence boundaries.
