Task Achievement / Task Response: Band 5.0

You identify the main leaders, noting that China and the United States ranked highest in both production and consumption, and you attempt an overall summary. However, the response only partly reports the chart’s key features. The year is given as 2010 rather than 2014, and the US production figure is stated as 4,009 instead of 4,099. The claim that Germany consumed the lowest amount is incorrect: Korea had the lowest consumption, while Germany was the only country whose consumption exceeded its production. The middle-ranked countries are grouped vaguely, so important comparisons are missed. Focus on accurate figures and a clear overview of the largest and smallest values and the notable Germany exception.

Coherence and Cohesion: Band 5.5

The response has a basic overall shape: an opening, a discussion of several countries, and a concluding overview. This gives the reader some sense of organisation, and phrases such as “Furthermore” and “Overall” signal transitions. However, progression between points is not consistently clear. The sentence beginning “If we look at the Russia, japan and India” does not explain what comparison is being made, and “the rest of countries” groups several nations without a clear organising principle. Some links are awkward or unclear, including “They both countries.” Organise the report into a concise overview followed by comparisons of the leading countries and the remaining notable figures, using references that make each comparison explicit.

Lexical Resource: Band 5.0

You use some relevant chart vocabulary, including “production,” “consumption,” “approximately,” and “billion KWH,” so the topic is generally recognisable. However, the range is limited and several word choices or collocations are inaccurate or unnatural, such as “neglect difference,” “maximum county,” and “consumped the lowest amount.” Spelling errors—including “rainked,” “differece,” and “consumtion”—also make the writing less clear and reduce precision. Use standard terms for describing data, such as “highest,” “lowest,” “slightly,” and “exceeded,” and check spelling carefully. More precise vocabulary would help you distinguish production from consumption and describe the comparisons accurately.

Grammatical Range and Accuracy: Band 5.0

You attempt some longer sentence forms, for example, “Furthermore, the rest of countries … and as we could seen that Germany…,” but these constructions are often faulty. Errors in articles, agreement, and sentence structure appear in phrases such as “The China,” “They both countries produced,” and “as we could seen.” The opening also shifts between present and past forms, while the chart describes a completed year. These errors sometimes make relationships between ideas difficult to follow. Build accuracy first with clear past-tense reporting sentences, such as “China produced 5,398 billion kWh and consumed 5,322 billion kWh.” Then combine accurate clauses using “while” or “whereas,” checking articles and subject–verb agreement.
