Task Achievement / Task Response: Band 4.5
You identify the two leading countries and include several relevant figures, such as China’s production and consumption and the United States’ values. However, the response covers only four countries and does not adequately summarise the full chart. The overview that production “increase[s] from the bottom to the top” is unclear and does not accurately describe the ranking: values generally decline down the list, while Germany is an exception because its consumption exceeds its production. The claim that consumption “fluctuiated from the bottom to top 6” is also not a clear or useful overview. The response is 18 words below the required minimum, and this limited coverage leaves key comparisons and features unreported.
Coherence and Cohesion: Band 5.0
There is a basic attempt to organise the response, beginning with an introduction and overview before giving details about China, the United States, Russia and Japan. This gives the reader some sense of the intended order. However, the response has no clear paragraphing or progression beyond this short sequence, and the final sentence ends without a concluding comparison. Linking is repetitive: “followed by” is used several times, while “while” joins ideas in ways that make the relationships difficult to follow. Full stops and capital letters are also inconsistently used, for example after “electricity” and before “China.” Group the countries into meaningful comparisons and use clear sentence boundaries and a wider range of accurate links.
Lexical Resource: Band 5.0
The response uses some task-relevant vocabulary, including “production,” “consumption,” “ranking” and “position,” so the main subject is generally recognisable. However, the range is limited and several word choices or forms are inaccurate, including “informations,” “producton,” “consumped” and “fluctuiated.” Repeated phrases such as “production of electricity” and “followed by” make the description sound repetitive. Some expressions are also imprecise: “at the top in ranking” and “a big difference with others 8 countries” do not describe the comparisons naturally. Use standard chart language such as “ranked first,” “generated,” “consumed” and “considerably higher than,” and check spelling and word forms carefully.
Grammatical Range and Accuracy: Band 5.0
You attempt both simple statements and longer sentences, including a comparison linking the United States with the other countries. However, the longer structures are often faulty, and errors in agreement, articles, sentence boundaries and verb forms occur frequently. For example, “The bar charts shows” has a subject–verb agreement error, while “in the all ten countries” has an incorrect article pattern. In “China is at the top … followed by the united states,” the sentence boundary and capitalisation are not controlled, and “stay at same position an consumption” is difficult to parse. Most sentences need editing before the relationships between figures are clear. Practise accurate past-tense reporting and build comparisons in shorter, complete sentences before attempting longer structures.
