Task Achievement / Task Response: Band 5.0
You identify the chart’s subject and include many relevant figures, including the leading values for China and the United States and several lower-ranked countries. However, the overview is unclear and does not accurately express the main pattern: China is highest, while Korea has the lowest production and consumption, but Germany is an exception because its consumption exceeds its production. The phrase “china was gained more highest ratio” does not communicate these features clearly. Some comparisons are also incomplete or imprecise, such as saying the United States “declined some ratio” without clearly naming the comparison. To strengthen the response, give a concise overview of the main contrasts and describe the figures consistently as production and consumption.
Coherence and Cohesion: Band 5.5
The response has a recognisable structure, with an introduction, an overview and two body paragraphs. The figures are generally presented in chart order, and linking expressions such as “Similarly,” “Additionally” and “At the last” help signal movement between countries. However, progression is often mechanical, and the repeated pattern of listing two numbers leaves comparisons difficult to follow. References such as “one,” “other” and “first” are not always clear, while “While canada…” is left as a fragment rather than being joined to a complete sentence. Organise the body around meaningful groups or contrasts, and use explicit references to production and consumption instead of relying on “one” and “other.”
Lexical Resource: Band 5.0
You use relevant chart vocabulary, including “production,” “consumption,” “billion kWh” and “countries,” so the reader can usually identify the topic and data. However, the range is limited and several word choices or collocations are inaccurate, sometimes making the meaning unclear. For example, “gained more highest ratio” is not a natural way to describe the largest figures, and “declined some ratio” does not clearly express that consumption was lower than production. “Through other” is also an unclear substitute for “in consumption.” There are spelling and capitalisation slips, including “bar chat,” “china” and “kwh.” Use precise comparison language such as “produced,” “consumed,” “higher than” and “the lowest figures,” and check country names and unit formatting.
Grammatical Range and Accuracy: Band 5.0
The response attempts some longer sentences, for example the sentence comparing China’s production and consumption, and most of the data can still be understood. However, sentence structures are limited, and errors in verb forms, articles and sentence construction occur frequently. Examples include “china was gained,” “China get,” and “Russia recieves”; these do not form accurate descriptions of the chart. The sentence beginning “While canada…” is incomplete, and several clauses omit the grammatical links needed to make the comparisons clear. Practise using a consistent past-tense pattern, such as “China produced … and consumed …,” and build complete sentences with clear subjects and verbs. More accurate simple structures would improve clarity before adding complexity.
