Task Achievement / Task Response: Band 4.0

You identify the main subject and report several relevant figures, including China’s production and consumption and the United States’ values. You also notice that Russia and Japan have relatively small gaps between the two measures. However, the response gives no clear, accurate overview of the chart’s main pattern, and some comparisons are incomplete or misleading: Germany’s consumption (582.5) is higher than its production (526.6), so it is not similar to the other countries in this respect. The comments about future generations and switching off electricity are advice, not chart analysis. The response is also 45 words below the required minimum, leaving important features underdeveloped. Select the largest contrasts and accurately summarise the overall pattern.

Coherence and Cohesion: Band 4.0

There is a basic attempt to move through countries, beginning with China and the United States and then mentioning Russia, Japan, India and other nations. This gives the reader some sense of the chart’s subject. However, the ideas are not arranged into clear paragraphs or a logical overview followed by supporting comparisons. The sequence becomes difficult to follow in “canada, brazil and germany in both are same,” and the final advice about saving electricity shifts away from the report. Linking is also very limited, with repeated use of “and” and few clear comparison signals. Group the countries by meaningful patterns, use a short overview first, and connect each comparison explicitly to the chart.

Lexical Resource: Band 4.5

You use some relevant chart vocabulary, including “production,” “consumption,” “difference,” and “electricity,” so the topic is generally recognisable. However, the vocabulary is basic and repetitive, and frequent spelling errors—such as “electriccity,” “rusia,” “consuption,” and “comapare”—make the response harder to read. Several phrases are also imprecise, including “top 1% use electricity” and “very lite difference”; the chart ranks countries rather than giving percentages. Aim for accurate terms such as “highest producer,” “slightly lower consumption,” and “substantially more.” Avoid informal or unclear expressions and check spelling carefully, especially for key terms that recur throughout the report.

Grammatical Range and Accuracy: Band 4.5

The response communicates a few simple comparisons, but sentence structures are very limited and errors occur frequently. Many statements lack a complete grammatical structure, as in “high electriccity use country china is production something,” while “china is a top 1% use electricity” has unclear relationships between the subject and the figures. Articles, word order, agreement and punctuation are also inconsistent; for example, “canada, brazil and germany in both are same production and consuption” is difficult to interpret as a sentence. There is little evidence of controlled complex sentence forms. Practise writing complete sentences with a clear subject and verb, and use comparison patterns such as “China produced X, while its consumption was Y.” Separate sentences with appropriate punctuation.
