Task Achievement / Task Response: Band 6.0
You identify the main pattern accurately: China leads both production and consumption, the United States is second, and Germany is the exception where consumption exceeds production. Several figures are also reported reasonably closely, including China’s production and India’s output and use. However, the overview is brief, and the comparison of the lower-ranked countries is not fully clear. Most importantly, the final sentence misattributes Germany’s figures to Brazil: Germany consumed 582.5 billion kWh and produced 526.6, whereas Brazil’s consumption was 455.8 and production 530.7. The statement that France and Brazil had similar production and consumption is also imprecise. Check country labels against the chart and make the key comparisons more explicit.
Coherence and Cohesion: Band 6.0
The response has a recognisable structure, moving from an overview to two paragraphs of country details, and signposting such as “To commence with,” “Furthermore,” and “In contrast” helps show the intended progression. The main ideas are generally grouped sensibly. However, some links are mechanical or confusing: “Compared with. USA” is an incomplete transition, and “In contrast Brazil used more energy then it produced” does not clearly connect to the preceding comparison and also assigns the figures to the wrong country. The final paragraph ends abruptly, without a concluding comparison. Use transitions to express precise relationships, group countries by meaningful patterns, and ensure each reference clearly identifies the country being discussed.
Lexical Resource: Band 5.5
You use a reasonable range of task-related vocabulary, including “production,” “utilised,” “accounted for,” and “constituted,” and the meaning is usually understandable. However, some choices are inaccurate or unnatural for describing chart data. “Most amount” would be better expressed as “highest level,” while “low portions” is not a natural way to describe electricity figures; use “lower figures” or “lower levels.” There are also spelling errors, including “comapres,” “Comapred,” “me arly,” and “Canda,” and “then” is used where “than” is required. “Produced 871kwh electricity” is also an awkward collocation. Aim for accurate, conventional phrases such as “generated 871 billion kWh” and proofread spelling and units.
Grammatical Range and Accuracy: Band 5.0
You attempt both simple and more complex forms, including the overview sentence beginning “Germany was the only country…” and comparisons introduced with “while” and “in contrast.” The main message is generally recoverable, but some sentence structures and punctuation are faulty. “The given bar graphs comapres” has a subject–verb agreement problem, and “While other countries shows…” also has incorrect agreement and is a fragment. “Compared with. USA” is punctuated as an incomplete sentence, while “In contrast Brazil used…” needs a comma after the introductory phrase. There are also inconsistent capitalisation and sentence starts. Build complete sentences with a clear subject and verb, check singular/plural agreement, and use punctuation to separate clauses accurately.
