Task Achievement / Task Response: Band 5.5

You identify the main extremes accurately: China leads both production and consumption, while Korea has the lowest figures, and you also report the United States and Russia as the next two largest producers. These are relevant features and give the response a basic overview. However, the comparison of the remaining countries is incomplete and partly misleading. Germany is described as the second-lowest, although its consumption (582.5) is higher than that of several countries, and the phrase “normal production and consumption” does not explain the data. The overview also misses the notable exception that Germany consumes more electricity than it produces, whereas production exceeds consumption in the other listed countries. Select and compare key patterns more clearly, rather than listing figures without explaining their significance.

Coherence and Cohesion: Band 6.0

The response has a recognisable structure: an introduction, an overview, and two paragraphs of details. The progression from the largest figures to the smaller countries is generally understandable, and phrases such as “Overall” and “In terms of specific figure” signal the stages of the report. However, the final paragraph becomes difficult to follow because it groups five countries together and gives a sequence of figures without clearly matching each pair to its country. “Furthermore” does not create a clear new comparison, and repeated wording such as “the lowest … in the figure” makes the links mechanical. Organise the details into clearer groups and use explicit comparisons and references so readers can follow which figures belong together.

Lexical Resource: Band 5.0

You use some task-relevant vocabulary, including “production,” “consumption,” “highest,” and “lowest,” so the main subject is usually clear. However, the range is limited and several expressions are inaccurate or unnatural, which makes some comparisons hard to interpret. For example, “normal production and consumption” is vague, and “5,398 number of electricity” is not a natural way to describe a value. Repeated use of “figure” and “which is” also limits precision. Aim for standard chart language such as “generated,” “used,” “stood at,” and “compared with,” and use “billion kWh” when reporting the units. Check country-name capitalization and spelling, including “China,” “United States,” and “Furthermore.”

Grammatical Range and Accuracy: Band 5.0

The response attempts both simple statements and longer sentences, and the overall meaning can usually be recovered. However, control of sentence structure and verb forms is inconsistent. Examples include “as well as it consume,” “electricity production and consumption is depend,” and “5,398 number of electricity is produce”; these contain errors in agreement, verb form, or sentence construction. Several sentences also run together, as in the overview beginning “while the korea,” and punctuation and capitalization are not consistently controlled. Use shorter, complete sentences when presenting figures, and check subject–verb agreement and tense. For example, write “China produced 5,398 billion kWh and consumed 5,322 billion kWh,” then build more varied structures once these basic patterns are secure.
