Student answer (Band 5.0)

the given chart illustrates the production and consumtion of electric power(in Billion KWh ) of the 10 most famous countries in the year of 2014.

overall, the China in productin and consumption was at top among all 10 countries followed by United states at 2nd number, while korea republic and Germany were at lowest level in the generation and utilization rate, at 10 and 9 number respective.Rusia, japan,India Canada,France and Brazil were at 3,4,5,6,7 nad 8 number respectively.

Task Achievement / Task Response: Band 5.0

You identify the chart’s subject and give a broad overview, correctly noting that China and the United States lead and that the other countries are much lower. Several figures are also reported accurately, including China, the US, Japan and India. However, the summary is only partial: it focuses mainly on the first five countries and gives little account of Canada, France, Brazil, Germany and South Korea. Some details are inaccurate or unclear: Russia’s production and consumption are not stated, and Brazil’s consumption is given as “45.8” rather than 455.8. The overview also calls Germany and South Korea the lowest without noting that Germany’s consumption exceeds its production. Select the main comparisons and report them precisely.

Coherence and Cohesion: Band 5.0

The response has a recognisable structure: an introduction, an overview and a paragraph of figures. This gives the reader some organisation, and sequencing countries by rank is a workable approach. However, progression is limited because the final paragraph moves through selected countries without a clear grouping or a complete comparison of the data. The overview’s long list of ranks is difficult to follow, and linking is sparse; “while” and “respectively” do not always make the relationships between figures clear. Paragraphing could be used more purposefully by grouping the two leading countries, then the middle and lower-ranked countries, and by comparing production with consumption within each group. Clearer transitions and references would make the report easier to follow.

Lexical Resource: Band 5.0

You use some relevant task vocabulary, including “production,” “consumption,” “generated,” and “produced,” so the topic is generally understandable. However, the range is limited and several choices are inaccurate or unnatural for describing a chart. “Most famous countries” does not mean the countries with the highest electricity output, while “harvested the power” and “utilization rate” are unsuitable in this context. Spelling errors such as “consumtion,” “genarated,” and “Rusia” are frequent and sometimes make figures or country names harder to interpret. Aim for precise, repeated chart language rather than searching for unusual synonyms: use “ranked,” “generated,” “consumed,” and “approximately,” and check spelling carefully.

Grammatical Range and Accuracy: Band 5.0

You attempt both simple statements and longer comparisons, but the range of sentence structures is limited, and errors occur frequently enough to affect clarity. For example, “the China in productin and consumption was at top” has problems with article use and sentence structure, while “almost 200 billion Kwh production was more then consumtion” lacks a clear grammatical comparison. The overview sentence listing countries and ranks is also difficult to parse because of missing punctuation and sentence boundaries. Use straightforward, complete sentences with a clear subject and verb, such as “China produced 5,398 billion kWh and consumed 5,322 billion kWh.” Then check articles, verb forms, and punctuation before adding more complex comparisons.
