Task Achievement / Task Response: Band 4.5
You report figures for most countries and correctly identify China as the largest producer, while noting Germany’s production is below its consumption. However, the overview is incomplete: saying Germany “produced less” is misleading because it had the lowest production, but not the lowest consumption, and the chart’s main contrast is the very large lead of China and the United States over the other countries. Several details are inaccurate, including India’s consumption (given as 688.8 rather than 698.8) and the year for Japan (“20214”). The response mainly lists figures rather than selecting and comparing the most important features. A clearer overview and accurate, selective comparisons would make the report address the task more fully.
Coherence and Cohesion: Band 5.0
The response has a basic sequence, moving from China and the United States through the remaining countries, and a final sentence attempts to summarise the data. Paragraphing separates some of the information, and “while” and “however” are used to contrast production with consumption. However, the report reads largely as a country-by-country list, with little grouping or progression between the major and minor figures. Some links are awkward or repetitive, and the final overview does not clearly connect to the comparisons in the body. Organise the report into an overview followed by grouped comparisons—for example, the two leading countries, then the much lower figures—and use linking expressions only where they clarify a relationship.
Lexical Resource: Band 4.5
You use relevant chart vocabulary such as “produced,” “consumption,” “annual production,” and “ranked,” so the topic is generally recognisable. However, the range is basic and repetitive, with “electricity,” “energy,” and “produced” repeated frequently. Several word choices and collocations are inaccurate or unclear, including “countries who produced huge amount electricity,” “consumpted amount,” and “people used energy.” Spelling and word-form errors such as “electricty,” “enegery,” and “cunsumes” also reduce precision. Use standard terms consistently, such as “electricity generation” and “electricity consumption,” and describe the figures directly rather than referring vaguely to what “people” used. This would make the report more precise and easier to read.
Grammatical Range and Accuracy: Band 4.5
You attempt to combine information using clauses with “while” and “however,” and some basic sentence patterns communicate the production and consumption figures. Nevertheless, sentence structures are often incomplete or incorrectly formed. For example, “The bar chart illustrates that the countries who produced huge amount electricity” lacks a clear, complete construction, while “India used their sources to get electricity was 871 billion kWh” combines clauses without a grammatical link. There are also recurring problems with articles, agreement, and verb forms, as in “China on top ranked” and “their people consumes.” Use straightforward, complete sentences with a consistent past-tense reporting pattern, and check that each clause has a subject and a correctly formed verb.
