Task Achievement / Task Response: Band 4.5

You identify the two leading countries and report their production and consumption figures accurately, which gives the response some relevant detail. However, the task is only partially addressed: the chart compares all ten countries, but most are grouped together as having “very low” production and consumption, without figures or meaningful comparisons. This also overlooks Germany, where consumption (582.5) exceeds production (526.6), unlike the pattern described for the other countries. The comments about countries needing cheaper methods and governments taking action are not shown by the chart and do not help summarise it. Focus on an overview of the main patterns, then compare selected figures across the remaining countries.

Coherence and Cohesion: Band 4.5

The response has a basic sequence: it discusses China, then the United States, and then the other countries. Phrases such as “On the other hand” and “After these two countries” attempt to connect the points. However, the progression is limited because the countries after the top two are listed together rather than organised into useful comparisons. The final discussion of windmills, solar energy and government action shifts away from the chart, weakening the overall focus. Paragraphing is also minimal, and the long second section combines chart description with unrelated recommendations. Use a clear overview paragraph followed by one or two paragraphs grouping countries by their production and consumption levels.

Lexical Resource: Band 4.5

Your vocabulary is sufficient to name the chart’s central topic and make basic comparisons, using terms such as “produce,” “consumes,” and “second after China.” However, the range is repetitive, especially through repeated use of “electercity,” and several spelling errors—“electercity,” “electercitry,” and “goveronment”—make the writing less clear. Some expressions are also imprecise for a data summary: “very low” does not distinguish the middle-ranking countries from one another, and “best economic country” is not a chart-based description. Use accurate terms such as “electricity production,” “consumption,” “ranked,” and “approximately,” and choose comparative language that reflects the figures.

Grammatical Range and Accuracy: Band 5.0

You use mostly simple sentences and attempt some longer structures, including “if they want to be one of the best economic country of the world.” The main figures and the basic meaning are generally understandable, but errors in agreement, articles and sentence construction are frequent. For example, “China was one of the more … country” needs plural agreement, while “United States produces” would be clearer as “the United States produced” in a past-year report. The opening also contains a repeated verb in “is is trying,” and punctuation is missing after “China.” Practise accurate past-tense reporting and subject–verb agreement, then build longer sentences around comparisons without adding unrelated ideas.
