Task Achievement / Task Response: Band 4.0

You report figures for all ten countries, and most of the values match the chart, including China’s production and consumption and Germany’s higher consumption than production. However, the response mainly lists data rather than summarising the main features. It gives no clear overview of the dominant position of China and the United States, the much lower figures for the remaining countries, or the general pattern that production exceeds consumption in nearly every country. The figures are relevant, but the task is addressed only minimally because the key comparisons are not selected or explained. To strengthen the response, begin with an overview and group countries or contrasts instead of repeating each pair of values in sequence.

Coherence and Cohesion: Band 4.0

The country-by-country sequence gives the reader a basic order to follow, and repeated references such as “this country” make some links between production and consumption understandable. However, the response is presented as one long paragraph, with little sense of an introduction, overview, or organised comparison. Repeatedly starting with a country name and “also” creates a mechanical list rather than a clear progression of ideas. Several sentences run together without adequate spacing or punctuation, making the information harder to process. Use separate paragraphs for the overview and supporting details, and connect related comparisons—for example, the two leading countries and the lower-producing group—so the organisation is coherent rather than a sequence of isolated entries.

Lexical Resource: Band 5.0

The response uses enough basic task vocabulary to communicate the topic, including “produced,” “consume,” “electricity,” and “billion kWh.” However, the range is limited and repetitive: nearly every country is described with the same production-and-consumption wording, with few terms for comparing or summarising data. There are also noticeable spelling and form errors, such as “biloion” and “comnsume,” and awkward phrases such as “consume the electricity of.” These do not prevent the reader from identifying most figures, but they reduce clarity and control. Build a small range of accurate chart language, such as “generated,” “used,” “output,” “exceeded,” and “respectively,” and check spelling carefully.

Grammatical Range and Accuracy: Band 4.5

Most information is expressed through simple clauses, and the repeated pattern makes the basic meaning recoverable. However, grammatical control is weak and errors occur frequently. For example, “this country consume” and “Russia also produce” need third-person singular verb forms (“consumes” and “produces”); “India produce” has the same problem. Articles and sentence boundaries are also inconsistent, as in “And at the same time this country…” and the run-together transition “kWh.United states.” The response shows little variety beyond repeated simple statements, so it does not demonstrate a reliable range of structures. Practise accurate present-tense reporting and combine related figures using controlled clauses, while checking full stops and spacing.
