Task Achievement / Task Response: Band 4.5
You identify the countries shown and report several key figures accurately, including China, the United States, Russia, Japan and India. However, the overview mainly repeats the list of countries and says they are highly rated; it does not summarise the most important pattern, such as China and the US producing and consuming far more electricity than the other countries. There is also a factual ranking error: Japan is fourth, not fifth. The final statement that France, Brazil, Germany and Korea were all low in both measures overlooks Germany, whose consumption (582.5 billion kWh) exceeded its production and was higher than the figures for France, Brazil and Korea. Select and compare the main features more clearly, rather than describing some values and dismissing the rest.
Coherence and Cohesion: Band 5.5
The response has a basic paragraph structure, moving from an introduction and overview to details about the countries, and phrases such as “Moreover” and “In addition” signal continuation. However, the overview does not provide a clear summary of the data, and the body’s progression is not consistently logical: Japan is called fifth before Russia’s and Japan’s figures are presented, while the final paragraph groups four countries together without meaningful comparison. Some linking phrases are mechanical, and repeated references to “the list” do little to show relationships between the figures. Organise the body around clear comparisons—for example, the two leading countries, followed by the remaining countries—and use transitions to express contrast or similarity.
Lexical Resource: Band 5.0
You use some relevant task vocabulary, including “produced,” “consumpt,” “amount” and “billion,” and the country names make the subject clear. However, the range is limited and several word choices or forms are inaccurate or unnatural, such as “consumpt,” “consumpting,” “highest rated countries,” and “too low in producing and consumptiong electricity.” Spelling errors such as “elecrricity,” “Canda” and “consumptiong” are noticeable, and “not too good” is too informal and imprecise for an academic report. Use standard forms such as “consumed” and “consumption,” and choose neutral descriptive language such as “the lowest figures” or “substantially lower output.” This would make comparisons clearer and more appropriate to the task.
Grammatical Range and Accuracy: Band 5.0
You communicate the basic information through mostly simple sentences, and some longer structures are attempted, such as “United States of America is second on the list which produce…” However, verb forms and agreement are frequently inaccurate: “countries who mostly produce,” “which produce,” “Russia produce,” and “France, Brazil, Germany and korea republic was” do not match their subjects or the past-time context. There are also problems with articles and sentence punctuation, including the unnecessary comma in “The bar chart, Illustrates” and capitalisation after commas. These errors sometimes make the report less fluent, although the intended meaning is generally recoverable. Practise consistent past-tense reporting and subject–verb agreement, then check each sentence for a complete, correctly punctuated structure.
