Task Achievement / Task Response: Band 4.5
You identify the chart’s subject and report several relevant comparisons, including China and the United States as the leading countries and Germany as the exception where consumption exceeds production. However, the response is under the required 150 words, with 142 words counted (the eight words copied from the task prompt are excluded). More importantly, it gives no clear overview of the main pattern and includes few figures, so the scale of the differences is not conveyed. The statement that China’s consumption is “more than other countries” is broadly true, but it does not compare its production and consumption accurately: production is slightly higher. Add a concise overview and support key comparisons with accurate data.
Coherence and Cohesion: Band 4.5
The response has a basic sequence: it introduces the chart, groups the countries into the top five and the next five, and notes Germany as an exception. This gives the reader some sense of organisation. However, most information is packed into one long paragraph, and the repeated phrasing—such as “production and consumpition” and “in 2014”—makes progression feel mechanical. The final sentence, “All this countries produce electricity and measure in billi,” is incomplete and does not provide a meaningful conclusion. Use separate paragraphs for the overview and details, and connect comparisons more clearly, for example by grouping countries with similar production and consumption patterns.
Lexical Resource: Band 5.0
You use relevant topic vocabulary, including “production,” “consumption,” “largest,” and “slightly more,” so the basic subject is understandable. However, the range is limited and several phrases are repetitive or imprecise, such as “the one of major source” and “the next country.” There are also noticeable spelling errors, including “consumpition,” “electircity,” “electicity,” and “canda,” which reduce accuracy and polish. The unfinished phrase “measure in billi” also leaves the unit unclear. Aim for accurate chart language and vary expressions for ranking and comparison, such as “generated,” “used,” “ranked,” and “exceeded.”
Grammatical Range and Accuracy: Band 4.5
Most sentences use simple structures, and the reader can generally identify the countries and comparisons being discussed. However, errors in sentence formation and agreement are frequent. For example, “In the chart ten countries are showing” uses an unsuitable verb form, while “On top five countries was” and “japan and india was” have subject–verb agreement problems. The phrase “its production is slightly more than consumpition” also lacks a clear plural subject and a complete comparison structure. Punctuation and spacing are inconsistent, and the final sentence is incomplete. Practise accurate present-tense descriptions, plural agreement, and complete sentences before attempting longer comparisons.
