Task Achievement / Task Response: Band 5.0

You identify the chart’s subject and give a broad overview that China has the highest figures, while Korea is among the lowest. You also include several relevant values, such as China’s production and consumption and the figures for France, Brazil and Germany. However, the overview is unclear and partly inaccurate: Korea is not the lowest in both measures, since Germany’s production and Korea’s consumption are lower, and the claim that Korea’s figures are “equal” is incorrect. Some comparisons are confused, including the United States figures, and the explanation about solar panels is not supported by the chart. To strengthen the response, state the main patterns accurately and compare the figures without adding causes the visual does not provide.

Coherence and Cohesion: Band 5.0

The response has an introduction, an overview and two body paragraphs, and signposts such as “To begin with,” “On the other hand” and “Finally” show an attempt to organise the information. However, the progression is difficult to follow because countries are grouped inconsistently and some links do not express the intended relationship. For example, “Secondly, the United States which have high compared to the Russia” does not clearly explain the comparison, while “remainning to onther three” leaves the reader unsure which countries or figures are being discussed. The contrast marker “On the other hand” also does not introduce a clear opposing trend. Group countries by meaningful similarities and use simpler, more precise links between comparisons.

Lexical Resource: Band 5.0

You use some task-related vocabulary, including “production,” “consumption,” “compared” and “fluctuation,” and attempt to describe differences with words such as “dramatically” and “marginally.” However, the range is limited and several word choices or collocations make the meaning unclear. Phrases such as “the highest Production and Consumption use,” “consumption are use on it” and “become significantly plummeted” are not natural ways to describe chart data. There are also spelling errors, including “oof,” “remainning,” “onther” and “palnes.” Use precise reporting language and check spelling; for example, say that a figure “was higher than” another or that it “fell slightly,” rather than describing a country as having “plummeted.”

Grammatical Range and Accuracy: Band 5.0

You attempt both simple and more complex sentences, including clauses introduced by “which” and “while,” but these structures are often faulty, and frequent errors sometimes make the comparisons hard to understand. Examples include “the highest Production and Consumption use in the China,” “the United States which have high,” and “the Germany which reverse because it have rise.” These show problems with articles, subject–verb agreement, sentence structure and verb forms. Tense and number are also inconsistent, as in “the consumption become less” and “the 5,322 consumption are use.” Practise building complete sentences with a clear subject and verb, and use consistent past-tense reporting forms such as “China produced…” and “consumption was…”.
