Task Achievement / Task Response: Band 6.5
You identify the main pattern accurately: China leads both production and consumption, the United States is second, and Germany is the exception where consumption exceeds production. You also support the report with figures for most countries, and the overview gives a useful broad comparison. This meets the task well, with some features reported more fully than others. However, the overview’s claim that Russia “remained stable” is unclear because the chart compares production with consumption, not change over time. There are also factual slips: India’s production is 871, not 871.8, and Germany’s consumption is 582.5, not 583.5. Clarify the comparison between the lower-ranked countries and ensure every figure matches the chart to make the account more precise.
Coherence and Cohesion: Band 6.0
The response has a clear overall arrangement: an introduction, an overview, and two paragraphs giving country figures. The progression from the largest producers to the remaining countries is generally easy to follow, and contrast markers such as “In contrast” and “On the other hand” help signal comparisons. However, some linking is mechanical or awkward, and punctuation sometimes interrupts the flow, as in “While Japan made slightly more than their consumption the figure was…” and “period.Russia.” The overview also combines several points without clearly distinguishing the general pattern from the Germany exception. Use complete, clearly punctuated sentences and group comparisons more deliberately—for example, discuss the leading countries together, then the lower figures and Germany’s exception.
Lexical Resource: Band 5.0
You use relevant task vocabulary, including “production,” “consumed,” “generate,” and “figures,” so the reader can understand the subject and many comparisons. However, spelling errors and imprecise or unnatural word choices are noticeable throughout: “prodtion,” “electirc city,” “election,” “counteries,” and “uterlized” make the writing less fluent and occasionally require the reader to infer the intended meaning. Some collocations are also unsuitable, such as “made electricity” and “the second least in production.” Aim for accurate, consistent terms such as “generated,” “electricity consumption,” and “ranked second-lowest.” Check country names and spelling carefully, and avoid varying the wording when a precise term is available.
Grammatical Range and Accuracy: Band 5.5
You attempt both simple and more complex sentence forms, including comparisons with “while” and “although”-type contrast, and the main message is usually recoverable. However, some grammatical errors affect clarity. For example, “Germany consume” has incorrect subject–verb agreement, while “All the other counteries made more election than their comsuption” lacks a clear grammatical comparison. Pronouns and number are also inconsistent in “Japan made slightly more than their consumption,” and several sentences run together or lack punctuation, such as “856.7 billion kwh . The production…” Use a consistent past-tense reporting style, check singular subjects and pronouns, and separate clauses with appropriate punctuation. More accurate complex sentences would improve control.
