Task Achievement / Task Response: Band 6.0

You identify the main leaders and lower-ranked countries, and your overview correctly notes China, the United States and Russia as the top three in both measures. You also report several useful comparisons, including Germany’s consumption exceeding its production and India and Canada producing more than they consume. However, some details are inaccurate or unclear: Russia does not consume more than it produces, and Korea does not consume less than every country in the group; Germany’s consumption is lower than China’s and the United States’. The explanation that Russia consumes more because of its “big area” is unsupported and does not describe the chart. Develop the overview with the striking gap between the top two and the remaining countries, and check each comparison against the figures.

Coherence and Cohesion: Band 6.0

The response has a clear overall arrangement: an introduction, an overview, and two paragraphs grouping the countries. Sequencing phrases such as “Firstly,” “Moreover,” and “Lastly” help readers follow the comparisons, and the country groupings broadly move down the rankings. Some links, however, feel mechanical, and the progression is weakened when comparisons are not clearly framed—for example, “Russia consumes electricity more because of its big area” interrupts the data-based sequence. The overview also combines several points in one sentence, making the main pattern less precise. Use more direct links that show contrast or similarity, and organise each body paragraph around a clear comparison, rather than relying mainly on ordinal transitions.

Lexical Resource: Band 5.5

You use relevant task vocabulary, including “production,” “consumption,” “producer,” and “noticeably ahead,” so the reader can understand the topic and many comparisons. There is some repetition of “electricity” and “numbers,” and several expressions are imprecise or unnatural, such as “less amount of electricity,” “similar numbers,” and “as compare to.” “Generates less” is also not the most suitable phrasing for describing consumption. Spelling errors such as “electricty” reduce accuracy. Aim for more precise chart language and collocations, for example “output,” “consumed,” “figures,” “slightly higher,” and “compared with.” This would make the comparisons clearer and more concise.

Grammatical Range and Accuracy: Band 5.5

You attempt both simple and more complex sentences, using clauses with “whereas,” “although,” and “with,” and the overall meaning is generally understandable. Some errors in agreement, verb forms, and sentence construction remain. For example, “Brazil, Germany and Korea generates” should use a plural verb, while “both countries consumes” also needs plural agreement. In “China as number one producer … and had similar number,” the sentence lacks a clear main verb structure; “China was the leading producer and had a similar consumption figure” would be clearer. Articles and comparison patterns also need attention, as in “at three and four” and “as compare to China.” Practise checking agreement and building complete, parallel comparison sentences.
