Task Achievement / Task Response: Band 5.5
You identify the main leaders accurately: China and the United States have the highest production and consumption, and you report their figures correctly. You also include the other countries and note Germany’s low production and Korea’s lowest consumption. However, the overview is incomplete and partly misleading: Germany is not the second-lowest in consumption, and its consumption (582.5) is actually higher than its production (526.6), unlike the general pattern. The response mainly lists figures rather than selecting and comparing the most important features. To strengthen it, give a clearer overview of the large gap between the top two countries and the much lower figures for the rest, and highlight Germany as the exception.
Coherence and Cohesion: Band 5.5
The response has a recognisable structure, with an introduction, an overview and two detail paragraphs grouped by countries. This gives the reader some organisation, and linking expressions such as “Overall,” “Regarding,” and “Turning to” signal movement between sections. However, progression is often mechanical: the paragraphs largely repeat a sequence of country figures, and “followed by” and “respectively” are used repeatedly without developing meaningful comparisons. Some transitions also make relationships unclear, particularly where several countries and paired figures are combined in one long sentence. Organise the details into clearer groups, such as the two leading countries, the middle-ranking countries, and the lower figures, and use comparisons to connect the information.
Lexical Resource: Band 5.0
You use relevant chart vocabulary, including “production,” “consumption,” “highest figure,” and “lowest figure,” so the topic remains understandable. However, the range is limited and several phrases are awkward or repetitive, such as “accounted for highest” and “in production of electricity.” There are also noticeable spelling and form errors, including “consumotion,” “comsumption,” “procuction,” and “Kkorea,Rep,” which reduce accuracy and polish. Use more natural collocations such as “generated” or “produced electricity,” “consumed electricity,” and “recorded the highest output.” Check country names and technical terms carefully, and avoid repeating “figure” when a more precise noun such as “output” or “consumption” is available.
Grammatical Range and Accuracy: Band 5.0
You attempt complex sentences to compare several countries, and the response includes both simple statements and clauses joined with “while” and “whereas.” However, control is inconsistent, and errors occur frequently enough to make some sentences difficult to follow. For example, “The chart illustrates the production of electricity and consumed by…” has an incomplete parallel structure, while “which is accounted for second highest figure” uses an incorrect verb construction. The sentence beginning “Regarding Chaina accounted…” also lacks a clear grammatical frame, and several long sentences join multiple comparisons without secure punctuation. Practise accurate patterns such as “China produced X and consumed Y” and “Germany’s consumption was higher than its production,” then divide complex comparisons into shorter, controlled sentences.
