Task Achievement / Task Response: Band 5.5
You identify the main leaders accurately: China has the highest production and consumption, followed by the United States, and you include several relevant figures. However, the overview is partly unclear and contains an inaccurate comparison: Russia, Japan and India do not show the same pattern across both measures, and Germany is notable because its consumption (582.5) exceeds its production (526.6). The statement that Japan, India and Canada were below 1,000 in production is also incorrect, since all three were below 1,000, but this grouping misses useful comparisons among the lower-ranked countries. To strengthen the response, give a clearer overview of the large gap between the top two and the remaining countries, and accurately highlight Germany as the exception to the general pattern of production exceeding consumption.
Coherence and Cohesion: Band 6.0
The response has a recognisable structure: an introduction, an overview, and separate paragraphs for production and consumption. This makes the information generally easy to follow. However, progression within the overview is weakened by the unclear claims that several countries “followed same trend,” and the production paragraph lists figures without consistently linking them into meaningful comparisons. Some linking words, especially “Whereas” at the start of sentences, feel mechanical or leave the relationship between ideas incomplete. The consumption paragraph also ends with a broad grouping rather than a clear comparison. Organise the details into more purposeful contrasts—for example, the two leading countries, the middle group, and the lower figures—and use linking expressions to show those relationships precisely.
Lexical Resource: Band 5.0
You use some task-relevant vocabulary, including “production,” “consumption,” “highest,” and “lowest,” so the topic is clear. However, the range is limited and several word choices or collocations are inaccurate: “manufacturing” is not an appropriate substitute for electricity production, “proportion” does not describe these absolute figures, and “top the chart” is informal. There are also noticeable spelling errors, such as “propotion” and “consequetly,” and the repeated use of “in production” makes the description less precise. Choose standard chart language such as “generated,” “consumed,” “amount,” and “ranked,” and check spelling carefully. More varied, accurate comparisons would make the report clearer and more natural.
Grammatical Range and Accuracy: Band 5.0
You communicate the basic comparisons using simple sentences and attempt some complex structures, such as “However, Russia, Japan and India…” and “Whereas, Canada…”. However, the range is limited, and errors in sentence construction and punctuation occur often enough to affect clarity. For example, “China top the chart with 5,322 on their consumptionn United States 3,866” lacks a correctly formed verb and punctuation between the figures. The overview begins “overall” without appropriate capitalisation, and “the the proportion” contains a repeated article. Some sentence fragments beginning with “Whereas” also leave the relationship incomplete. Practise forming complete comparative sentences with accurate subject–verb agreement, articles, and punctuation, while varying sentence patterns in a controlled way.
