Task Achievement / Task Response: Band 3.5

You identify the countries in the chart’s ranking, including China and the United States at the top and Korea at the bottom, so the response has some relevant connection to the task. However, it mainly discusses population, national size, wealth and technology rather than summarising electricity production and consumption. For example, the claims that China has the largest population and Russia is the world’s biggest country do not describe the chart. You give no consumption figures and make no meaningful comparison between the two measures; Germany’s consumption, which exceeds its production, is also missed. To improve, provide a clear overview of the main pattern and support it with accurate comparisons drawn from both series.

Coherence and Cohesion: Band 4.0

The response follows the countries in roughly the same order as the chart, from China through Korea, which gives the reader a basic sequence to follow. However, it is presented as one long paragraph, and the repeated pattern of “the … country” and “they produce” makes the progression difficult to track. Several ideas are joined together without clear links, while the repeated references to population and national characteristics interrupt the chart description. Organise the response into a short overview followed by grouped comparisons, such as the leading countries and those with lower figures. Use clear sentence boundaries and linking phrases to show how production and consumption figures relate.

Lexical Resource: Band 4.0

You use a few task-related terms, including “production of electricity” and “ranked country,” and the country names are generally recognisable. However, vocabulary is basic and highly repetitive, with “produce,” “country” and “population” recurring without enough precise language for describing data. Some expressions are unclear or unsuitable for an academic chart summary, such as “classical country,” “ome people are billionry” and “asia largest populational country.” These choices sometimes make it hard to understand the intended point. Build a small set of accurate chart terms—such as “consumption,” “figure,” “highest,” “lowest” and “exceed”—and use them to report what the data show rather than adding unrelated descriptions.

Grammatical Range and Accuracy: Band 4.0

You attempt to connect several ideas using “and,” and the reader can identify some country names and rankings. However, sentence structures are mostly long strings of clauses, with frequent problems in sentence boundaries, articles, agreement and verb forms. For instance, “The china is the most powerful and the china is the product of electricity they are produced” does not form a clear grammatical statement, and “they are produce electricity” uses an incorrect verb pattern. Capitalisation and punctuation are also inconsistent, including lowercase sentence openings after full stops. Practise writing short, complete sentences with a clear subject and verb, then combine related information using accurate forms such as “China produced…” and “consumption was…”.
