Task Achievement / Task Response: Band 4.0

You identify two relevant headline features: China has the highest figures, and Germany is unusual because its consumption exceeds its production. You also include some accurate data, such as China’s production of 5,398 billion kWh and the United States’ second-place production figure. However, the report is only a partial response: it ends mid-sentence at “India, France and canada's consumtion,” leaving several countries and comparisons unreported. The claim that Korea has the lowest production and consumption is inaccurate, since Germany’s production is higher but Korea’s consumption is indeed the lowest. The response also falls 40 words short of the required minimum. To develop the report, complete the comparisons and accurately summarise the overall pattern across both measures.

Coherence and Cohesion: Band 4.0

There is an attempt to organise the response with an overview followed by detail, and “Firstly” and “On the other hand” signal transitions. However, the progression is incomplete and difficult to follow because the final paragraph stops after “India, France and canada's consumtion,” without completing its point. The comparison between Russia and Japan is also unclear: “Russia generate almost 100 billions kwh than japan” does not specify whether this refers to production or consumption, and the following clause makes the relationship harder to interpret. Paragraphing is present, but the ideas are not developed into a coherent account of the chart. Use one paragraph for the overview and separate, complete paragraphs for the main comparisons, linking each figure clearly to its country and measure.

Lexical Resource: Band 5.0

The response uses some task-relevant vocabulary, including “production,” “consumed,” “electricity,” and “largest,” so the topic is generally recognisable. However, the range is limited and several spelling and word-choice errors make the writing less clear, such as “usege,” “mesures,” “comapred,” “positon,” and “consumtion.” Phrases such as “accounted the largest number” and “second lagest positon” are not natural collocations for describing chart data. “Only 76 bilion kwh left after usage” is also imprecise: it would be clearer to say production exceeded consumption by 76 billion kWh. Build a small set of accurate chart-reporting phrases, such as “recorded the highest output” and “consumption was slightly lower than production,” and check spelling carefully.

Grammatical Range and Accuracy: Band 5.0

You attempt both simple statements and longer comparisons, and the main topic can usually be understood. However, grammatical control is inconsistent, particularly in verb forms and sentence construction. For example, “china produce” and “Russia generate” need past-tense forms to describe 2014, while “china accounted the largest number” is missing a grammatical element after “accounted.” The sentence “Russia generate almost 100 billions kwh than japan” lacks a clear comparison structure, and the final fragment has no complete clause. Capitalisation and punctuation are also inconsistent, including the lowercase country names and the missing space before the parenthesis in “russia(856.7…).” Practise complete past-tense sentences and comparison patterns, such as “Russia produced about 100 billion kWh more than Japan.”
